Open file explorer to the downloads folder 23H2

Windows 11 Pro Version 23H2(OS Build 22631.4890)
Ok I had this tweaked in 22H2 to open to the downloads folder by default, I recently updated to 23H2 and just realized that now when I open file explorer I get all that goofy crap in the window, theres quick access and favorites with drop down arrows for subfolders. I hate it. I need mine to open to the downloads folder. Can anyone give me the how to or point me to a site to do so please thank you.

This works in Windows 10, not sure of Eleven.

  • Right-click any blank area on your desktop and select New > Shortcut.
  • In the location box, input this path: %SYSTEMROOT%\explorer.exe /e, target folder path, and click Next (Remember to replace the target folder path with the actual full folder path you want to set as the default folder).
For example, %SYSTEMROOT%\explorer.exe /e, E:\OneDrive\Desktop\test.​

Then as far as I know, somewhere in here in this forum, there is a way to add that shortcut to your taskbar?

The Options page in WinSetView has a section to set the Explorer start folder. Downloads is one of the options.

Thank you all I opted to go with LesFerches option of WinSetView since I actually was using that one prior Just forgot cause everything got reset after updating. I didnt just change the D-value because for me it didnt work. I tried a few ways of changing it and it wouldnt change, I could type it but when i hit apply/OK it just flipped back to the default. But yes worked like a charm thanks to all for your replies.
