Yeah, I'd parted out an Intel i9-14900K system with 64gig of RAM, new board, PS, and drives, but decided to get a notebook.

Thus far, I had 3 chances this year to do a new build but in each instance the money went in other electronics - mainly Hi-Fi gear.

Will definitely be looking to do a new build next year.

Last week I bought a eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual Camera it was considerably less expensive then.
*I like this part:
“For devices that must work with HomeBase, the Homebase must connect with your home router with an ethernet cable during the setup process for the first time. After setup, you can switch the HomeBase to a Wi-Fi connection.”

Edit: Oh ya, no monthly fees either :)

That sounds like my old Canon MX860 printer, which was one of the first printers that featured WiFi connections (if I remember correctly). Always had to do ethernet before could establish WiFi. Maybe your Doorbell has an old network decoder chipset like my printer?

There are some tear-down photos Here but I cannot tell which one is the chipset.

Needed a larger drive for locally accessed photos so I got this 2TB 990 Pro NVME drive to replace the 970 Pro 1TB NVME drive. PC doesn't support PCI 4.0, so I can't take advantage there, but when I do a new build, the drive will be right at home then.

Good choice. I haven't written any Python for quite a while, but it is a very decent interpreted language. We had a storage system for 100s of Petabytes of scientific data written in Python that served a large scientific community in real time storing and analyzing data from experiments. Have at it!
