I was really sick for a few years, then termites basically ate my house and caused $140,000 damage. It’s been hectic.

I’m pretty good now though mate, trying to play catchup. I haven’t been past Win 10 for years, my desktop is nearly 8 years old. Just bought a card for it and a new Laptop for my wife, Christie. On her credit card while she was at church…. Sucker.

She’ll get over it, not talking to me ATM lol. But she needed it so suck it up buttercup I said (in my head)

Decided to finally grab a good soundbar for my TV to replace the cheap 2.1 Yamaha that I had. It sound fantastic, especially while gaming.

When I have time, I’m going to compile my Amazon list. I have a problem, it’s going to get me divorced. So many purchases in the last 2 months. A lot of it i wasn’t paying attention to detail and it just isn’t what I needed or thought it was and I can never be stuffed sending anything back.

I can only hope that during the Prime days here in OZ, my internet goes down.

Just placed this order the other day to switch to my office corporate mobile data provider. I am previously paying CAD $47/mo for my 6GB mobile data plan. This corporate data plan is only $45 for unlimited calls, text and data + $400 port-in credit which makes it like only $34/mo on a 3 year term.

Tested it yesterday and the 5G speed is not bad.

I just spent the last half hour, renewing my Bitdefender Internet Security subscription.
Renewal is like an RPG game.

They use some other company to handle the transactions, which makes it seriously complicated.
The "other" company tries to renew for the full price which is a bit over twice as expensive.
So every year I call them and we go through the same rigamarole.

Once again... I get another year for $26.74 with tax included. And it only takes a half hour!

I don't have a router with my computer, so I have no wireless.
So I "need" the unlimited data plan.
I was paying $30/month for 5GB data which I used up in about 1.5 days because no wireless.

Is there a way to give my computer (and phone), wireless without a router. Like a dongle or NIC?
If I get a dongle or NIC for the computer, will the phone be able to use that wireless?
Or is a router required. I R a wireless noob.

Phone = Samsung Galaxy A54 5G
It can see all the wireless in the neighborhood... but... passworded.

I have Verizon FIOS 300/300

Normally, there's an ONT (Optical Network Terminal), on the outside of the house.
There's a "Moca" coax cable running from that to the router and TV.
But I canceled cable TV a while ago.

Instead, for greater internet reliability, I have a CAT 5e cable running from the ONT straight to the computer.
No router involved.

I'm guessing the ONT is sort of like a modem. It converts the fiber signals to ones and zeros?

Fiber on the poles. Fiber from the pole to the house (ONT).

As far as I understand... wireless requires a transmitter and a receiver.
So a dongle or NIC, wouldn't really help me, would it? I'd still need the transmitter part?
I'm guessing that in normal setups... the router is the wireless transmitter?

I'm just looking for wireless for the phone.

Note: I live in suburbia. No free wireless floating around.

You can buy a cheap router and connect it to your modem. Then connect your PC to that router by cable, and at the same time enable wifi on the router.
But you will also need a moca to ethernet adapter to connect your router via ethernet cable.
