The Office Outlook is a convoluted dinosaur and I think MS realizes it, and are trying to perfect the New Outlook!

I believe you are correct. Everything is getting more simplified which in my opinion isn’t always a plus. I suppose I gauge that on the fact that when you get to know a particular software, change can be a little annoying.

Ok so one last question for you sorry,

When I do a send/receive on only my main email account, the first part , main part, is done in few a few seconds, less than a minute. But then it also does a Synchronizing Subscribed Folders process that takes about a minute. It is still much faster than before I started this thread, but just curious why it does subscribed folders and do I need it doing that? I had a look through the mail options and do not see anything that mentions that.
Thanks for any tips,

Synchronising folders has always been a hit and miss for me. There are things you could try, one at a time. If the result isn’t better, undo the process you have changed as it isn’t really serving any purpose if no results have improved. (* read the end)

I have always found that dealing with and keeping mailboxes clean and up to date (read all mail, delete junk, keep folders lean where possible etc) to be the best result with syncing. I can’t actually recall if i have any of the following in place ATM but I have used these methods in the past. I couldn’t map it out any better for you than it is on this link.

* Backup up your OS and then try the following. Perhaps try them all at once to see the result, or try the 3 processes one at a time.

We really don’t know if it is your setup or the server you are hosted on that could be the cause of slow syncing, but usually it’s how clean we keep our mail. This has been my experience with my wife's bad habits regarding outlook mail. As much as Outlook has great functionality, there are faster mail apps. Edwin has some preferred software he likes to use. Edwin tests a lot of apps.

@Edwin
That's why I use Mailbird! 🤷‍♂️

Ok thanks. Don't want to mess up a good thing I already have going. I can live with 1 minute, much better than it was before. I have folders I created in Outlook that I manually move my emails I want to keep into. I guess it is all these folders it seems to want to go through, when there really is no need for that. But again I do not want to get into anything that I might easily screw everything up in.

Thanks,

All those processes are common and safe. The first one is probably most tried. But all are recommended at various/most ISP’s
The only reason I recommended you backup your OS is so the undo would be faster if you ran into issues, but reversing what you tried is just as easy. One should always backup though (y)

Yeah I run full images of all my drives on a weekly basis. Plus there is also using a restore point prior to doing. But still, reckon I am just going to leave well enough be. Eventually I guess I will be moving to the new Outlook at some point.

Thanks again for everything,
