It doesn't really matter in PSP, unless you're working with HUGE images.
When I say HUGE, I mean images that are like... 20k x 10k pixels.
But in Animation Shop 3 (which is included), "large address aware" is a necessity.

I have a question about Paintshop Pro 9. I have been using 9 for a long time. After I upgraded to win 11, it still work. Lately, it stopped working. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and still not working. If I click on a picture, paintshop opens but no picture shows. If I go to open a new file and open a picture it works. My wife's computer works fine and we have the exact same computer.

I dunno, I don't use PSP 9. I use PSP 7.04

If it was me I'd use REVO Uninstaller (free) to completely remove PSP 9.
Make sure during the uninstall, to do REVO's "Scan" for leftovers, and remove all them too.

Then reinstall PSP 9. You can use the version in the 1st post of this topic.
Instructions are at the bottom of the 1st post.

In most cases, completely uninstalling a misbehaving program and reinstalling it, will fix things.
And REVO is great at "completely" uninstalling things.

If it was me I'd use REVO Uninstaller (free) to completely remove PSP 9.
Make sure during the uninstall, to do REVO's "Scan" for leftovers, and remove all them too.

Then reinstall PSP 9. You can use the version in the 1st post of this topic.
Instructions are at the bottom of the 1st post.

In most cases, completely uninstalling a misbehaving program and reinstalling it, will fix things.
And REVO is great at "completely" uninstalling things.

Try running the installer, "as Administrator".



These are the instructions for installing PSP 9...


1. Mount the ISO image.
2. Open the PSP9 folder, and open the Paint Shop Pro 9 folder.
3. Right click: Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9.msi ...and choose: Run as Administrator, to install Paint Shop Pro 9.
4. Open the PSP9 folder, and open the Animation Shop folder.
5. Right click: Jasc Animation Shop 3.msi ...and choose: Run as Administrator, to install Animation Shop 3.




But... you're gonna have to uninstall PSP 9 again, using REVO, and Scanning for leftovers, before you try to install it again.



The only other thing I can think of, is that maybe on your computer, there's been a software change that's affecting PSP 9.

You could also try...

Running these commands, one at a time in a Command Prompt that's run as an Administrator.


sfc /scannow

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup


These commands will check for and try to repair, any Windows problems you may be having.
