Is it possible to get Search on the taskbar to not search the web when I type stuff there? If so, how do I do that?

If serious about wanting to assure searching only the computer drive/s I'd go to Device Manager and Disable the Network Adapter, force only local access. If on a LAN that would also disable it so I'd unplug the Modem if separate from the Router or unplug the feed cable from the ISP to the Modem/Router.

Hello, :alien:

The method in the tutorial below can remove the "Ask Copilot" and "Find results in Web" (Web) icons on taskbar Windows Search toolbar if that may help.

This works on Windows 11 too...

NOTE: You may have to single right click on the Windows folder (left side in the registry),
and choose: New > Key ...and name the new key: Explorer
Then just double click the reg patch (you downloaded) in step #3 of the tutorial, and reboot to apply the changes.

Thank you Ghot. I downloaded the reg file to turn it off and the 'merge' worked without me having to manually create the 'Key' in regedit. Just rebooted the machine and Search is now web-free.

Thank you! :0) And thanks to the others that responded too!

Either way would have worked. I just type slower.
And the "other" person who helped ( @Brink ), was the guy that writes all the tutorials. ^^

You can always trust the... Alien. He's a friendly alien. ^^

BRINK signal2.png

He's the one we call when WE have problems. :D

He's been writing tutorials for quite a while. These days... I think he just imagines a tutorial and it magically appears in the tutorials section.
