Windows 11 Home
I recently tried to reinstall Windows 11 23H2 using the ISO after upgrading from Win 10. When I got to the stage of saying what to keep, I was unable to keep apps and programs due to the OS language being different to the ISO download. The display language is English UK as are all the other language and time settings. The ISO I downloaded was English International - the only other option being English US. We didn't want to lose the apps and programs so we cancelled the install and chose the Installation Assistant instead and the reinstall completed retaining everything.
Is there a way to check the OS language or is that and the display language the same? Also, the Installation Assistant seemed to work well for us - is this as good a method to reinstall Windows 11 as the ISO?
Thanks. Jim.

@Mitch

I know this is too late to be of help, but when there's a "Feature Upgrade" like 23H2, there's usually an Enablement Package.

23H2 was installed around July 2023, but not turned ON.
That's what the Enablement Package does... turns ON previously installed Features.
The did the same thing for 22H2 as well, and probably will for 24H2 also.

24H2 is supposed to roll out around October 2024. When it does... the easiest thing to do, is to just run the Enablement Package that will be provided, soon after that time. :-)

I can't comment on the Installation Assistant, as I've never used it.

Hi Ghot. Thanks for your reply. I foolishly used Windows Update to move from Win 10 to 11 on one of our pc's - took an eternity. When we got to Win 11 several things didn't work (Win Updates/Defender/Explorer etc). We tried a repair install of the now Win 11 using the ISO but struck the language problem detailed before. Tried everything and eventually gave up and restored to W 10 using Reflect - well worth the cash. Next day we tried the Upgrade Assistant and everything went well. In the "Download Windows 11" page from MS, Upgrade is changed to Installation Assistant, I assume because we are on the latest version, 23H2. If I need to do a Win11 repair install, I would probably use the Installation Assistant over the ISO as at seems to remove any question about language version.
Thanks again.
Jim.
