I generally do a full clean install about every 12 months, sometimes sooner if issues do arise. It just keeps it running nice, considering the amount of things i do to the poor system. I run Kodi as my media player for this system and some issues can and do happen. A nice new fresh clean install keeps it running well.

    This machine is used as a media pc for watching tv shows and movies.

    Kodi is installed and used for media.

    This windows install is completely stock, not running any start menu or any other type of program to modify windows explorer or start menus. Only uninstalled pre installed apps.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

Unless it's the only solution I can find to fix a problem, I just keep updating.

I use the Reset PC with the keep my files option when there is a glitch or issue with the system and a quick fix isn't available.
As for doing a clean reinstall I haven't done one of those since circa July 2023 when I was having major stability issues on a then new build because of faulty ram.

No I don't. Nor do I reset if I am having an issue. My data is located separate from Windows and is backed up separate from Windows. If I start having a problem, I'll restore an image of the OS.

I rely on the god... backup software.
I keep the used space on my C:\ drive low (under 40GB), so my backups and restores are fast.

If I even get a whiff of a hint that something might be fishy, I restore from a backup.

For me to feel the need to reinstall Windows... something horri-bad must have happened.
That hasn't happened yet... from XP to Win 11. :-)
