Windows 11 Pro ver 23H2
I got a fake "Microsoft Seccurity Alert" with a voice telling me not to switch off my computer but to phone **REMOVED**.

The computer was locked up so could not click on anyhing.

I DID NOT PHONE THE NUMBER>

I was suspicious so phoned a friemd and asked them to enter this telephone number into the "Who called me" website.

Reports indicated this was SCAM.

So pressed Ctrk-Alt-Delete to access Task Manager and selected 'Sign out'

This returned me to the Windows opening page.

I then ran Malwarebytes to check for a virus - there weren't any.

I hope tis helps other victim

First, here's ten points for filling out your computer specs. :-)

Second, pretty good method for dealing with that scam.

Third... start using 3rd party backup software !! Sometimes signing out or even rebooting won't fix a locked computer.
For that you need 3rd party backup software.

I DID NOT PHONE THE NUMBER>

I ran into the same thing twice last week, when I was looking through stuff on Facebook. I didn't click on anything or call any phone number. It pops up and takes over the entire screen, and tells you not to switch off your computer. The first time I switched off my computer and then rebooted. I didn't see any issue when the computer came back up. The second time, also on Facebook a few days later, I also switched off the computer and rebooted. But when I restarted Chrome, it indicated the it was shut down improperly and wanted to restore all my tabs. I said OK and got the same alert screen. Again, I shut off my computer and rebooted, but this time I didn't allow Chrome to restore anything. I then went through Chrome's history and manually restored individual tabs, skipping the Facebook link. I haven't seen any issues since then. I also stopped browsing through Facebook.
