Did you try to enable it trough Task Manager -> Startup apps -> SecurityHealthSystray.exe set from Disabled to Enabled?

But you've tried everything we've suggested and you still can't get that icon to stay in place when you start up. When Defender is active on a PC, the default is for that icon to be in the tray. I think either I'VE missed something, or YOU'VE missed something.

Have you tried @OAT's suggestion that you create a new account (just temporarily; you can remove it afterwards) and give it admin priv's and see whether after reboot into THAT new account you have the Defender icon? I think you can manage that without help, but if you need any help, just post back here.

@Wisewiz That is something to think about, can't do it now but will give it a go when I get the time. No I'm OK with what your suggesting . Will report back. So thanks for all your help and will be in touch.

@Wisewiz Update:- It appears to be fixed. What I did was to remove the reg entry SecurityHealthSystray.exe in Windows run, reboot then clear TPM. Reinstate security health in reg and reboot. For some unknown reason it worked and the icon is back. Tried several reboots and it's still there. I have no idea why I went for approach and why a repair install did nothing.
So thanks for everyone's help and I will now mark this solved.
