Solved Sendto function broken in Windows 11 24H2

Deleting files or other data without being sure what you are doing, is asking for trouble. We also did similar mistakes when we were novices and we learned the hard way.

I've been using Windows since about Windows 3.1, would not call myself a novice. I deleted these options from the Sendto folder AFTER this sendto function got broken so it is not the cause.

That may be the case. I haven't read about this elsewhere. I will try to install Outlook and see whether it changes anything.
Installing Outlook does not solve the problem, there is no option to send to mail recipient, even if Outlook is set as default mail application.

I know that and use that as an alternative but when I want to send specific files by mail from File Explorer (or Total Commander, which I prefer) it was more convenient to select them and simply right click and choose 'Send to Mail Recipient' when it worked properly.

Choose the files in Total Commander but instead of right-click drag and drop them into a new message. It cannot get easier than that.

Big thanks to you for this tip, after resetting all apps now I see this:
BIG_01.jpg
The only trouble is that it opens Microsoft Outlook, to compose a new mail but this is GREAT progress after more than one year.
Now I only have to change the app to Thunderbird and I'm done.
Thanks again.

OK, it seems those who said that it only works with Outlook were unfortunately right.
If I reset apps to default, this send to Mail Recipient option works fine BUT
if I change Mapimail to open with Thunderbird, it gets empty and broken.
I may have to put up with using Outlook in this situation, not a big deal.

Yes, that's the question. I did not do anything special I upgraded from Windows 10 as soon as Windows 11 came out and at some point of time it stopped working I don't remember exactly when. I haven't edited any registry items, only used the existing configuration.
I still have a Windows 10 installation on this same machine and the Sendto function works fine with Thunderbird.

I have no doubt send to isn’t working for you, this thread would attest to that, I don’t know why.
But stating that it only works with Outlook is the same the other member stating that Microsoft has caused this on purpose so that people are forced to use Outlook.
Neither comment is factual.

All I had to do to get send to working with Thunderbird was to go into Thunderbirds settings and tell Thunderbird to check that it was the default mail client. Nothing fancy.

I did so yesterday to see if I could help in this thread.

For what it’s worth maybe try creating a temp new user account to see if your current user account is corrupted.

OK, it seems TO ME those who said that it only works with Outlook were unfortunately right.
Still not correct.

If you said “it seems that this doesn’t work for me” it would be factual..

What you need to realise is that people find these threads when searching for answers to problems that they may be facing which are similar to yours.
Facts are important.

You have the desktop app or the windows store app? I think this may be the problem. In that case, try to use the full installer from www.thunderbird.net.

Probably just changing the default email client to Thunderbird is not enough. Some extensions or protocols remain to Outlook or undefined. Make Thunderbird default and then go to Settings, Apps, Default apps, Make default by application (don't remember the exact wording) and select Thunderbird. Verify that all extensions and protocols are assigned to Thunderbird. In not manually change them. Then open Outlook and change the remaining extensions and protocols to Thunderbird if any. Then check if Sent to work properly.
