Nice setups folks :-) :-) :-)

I think we need some older computers.. its a bit to modern in here

(This is not a new build.. i posted this over at 10forum 2023)

Here is my main work computer i use almost daily for research, studies, documentation etc.
It is a Dell Dimension 3000.. Made in 2004....
The default OS was Windows XP.. than can be seen on the tiny blurry sticker in the bottom left.
001.png

It has the classic mid/late 00's fan control panel.

It works great and it has triple boot
Debian, Kali, Win10Modified

oh.. i might mention I did a tiny upgrade, so its no longer a P4 with 256MB ram..
it became an 8Gen Intel with 32GB ram... :-)

So as my summer car... This desktop became a sleeper
I love retro look. :-) :-)

Before and after picture.... (Sorry for the mess on my workbench in the background.)

I noticed your desktop to my second cup of coffee when i went thru the thread.
Is not often i see people using hotswap bays in desktops. (y)

Now we need a 2024 desktop and we have every 10th year.. i can put in one from 1994 too.. but that will not be modern hardware inside thogh. *lol* 😅
I like the design.. it reminds a bit of stormtroopers in star wars :-)

I used to participate a lot in Windows 10 Insider testing back then and multi-boot is always giving me a headache after each update so I switched to hot swappable drives instead.

My latest rig was actually built during the pandemic (you know how boring it was back then). It's a Ryzen R9 3900X. I have both my old and new rigs running the same set of monitors. (The ZBook laptop is not mine. It's an office issued work laptop).

Hotswap is also a good security measure when running several windows OS's... as ransomware or data intrusion can access the other drives.
Actually.. back in 2020+ i had things way over my head and then 2022 i started to study over at udemy.com to update my older certs from 2009 and some new things i got a post deleted for mentioning. *lol* ;-) so i wont mention that again. :nope:

I have not upgraded a single computer since 2019.. My servers is OLD now, so i really need to upgrade one of them.. but it has to wait, they are not cheap even of they are a couple of year old.

I can not show my desk.. its overloaded with work papers and stuff so its a mess.. and i dont want to mess up the mess until the work is done. :-)
and I'm also on my way to rebuild my computer room.. Last time i did it was for pure functionality.. and as i always have that door closed(to minimize dust) i didn't care about the look as nobody saw it... But this time i will remake it in to hidden design to hide all tech.. I'm still working on the design. So when that is finished.. then i can show something fun :-) :-)

You have a clean and modern design :-)
I have not yet decided.. I think i will go for a clean and tech-boring design, as i plan on hiding as much as i can.

I mentioned this several times, my motto for a clean looking setup is "Have a place for everything and everything in its place".
You may have noticed I have tons of drawers. :lmao:

I mentioned this several times, my motto for a clean looking setup is "Have a place for everything and everything in its place".
You may have noticed I have tons of drawers. :lmao:

you say...."Have a place for everything and everything in its place".
i say "Have a place for everything and everything isn't in its place". ;-)
I do have a place for everything, but i dont have drawers and cabinets.. I have shelf's on all walls, but bigger and can take a lot more weight then yours and i have five storeys of them instead of two as you have. So everything is open for easy access.. as i said.. functionality only.
and i have a lot more computer stuff, so cable management is a nightmare.. I do not look forward to redo all cables to fifteen desktops and three servers and nine monitors.

Edit
to clarify it a bit.. Three desktops is for work/personal use.. i triple/quad boot them so i never use the same OS for personal use and work use.. Two is active the third is a hardware failover.. this three has six monitors and i have a three KVM switch solution.
Then i have eight retro computers that is over one 8port KVM switch.
Then four retro computers that has its own monitor and keyboard as its to old (80's stuff) but one of them dont have a monitor so i have to manually switch monitor between two.
One server is a retro server that i actually use to backup the retro computers on... Then one storage server for networkdrives and PXE boot.. and a small server for running a few docker containers.
