So not an issue with Windows at all then?I did some tests. I disabled the second screen, then tried Snipping Tool. "Window mode" works as expected, it let me select the desired window and captures that. Then I enabled the second monitor again and tried to capture a window on the primary monitor. Again it works as expected, it captured the window. I then tried to capture a window on the secondary monitor and it worked as expected.
I discovered the culprit! I usually control this PC remotely with AnyDesk from my work computer or other computer in home. AnyDesk interferes with the Snipping tool making it capture the entire screen instead of the desired window. The last tests were done locally, not from AnyDesk, so the Snipping tool worked correctly! This issue did not appear in Windows 10 with AnyDesk 6. In Windows 11 I downloaded and installed AnyDesk 7 and it looks like it works differently and affects Snipping tool. I will install and try Snagit and see if this is also affected by AnyDesk 7 and let you know.
