Something weird with snipping tool

I have been making extensive use of the snipping tool today and I noticed something peculiar. The snipping tool window moves up the screen a little bit with each snip until it finally has the top of the window offscreen, making it impossible to do further snips, or to close the window.

I fixed it by snapping the window to the side of the screen and it's fine, but the floating window seems to have a mind of its own. Strange, huh?

My wife does this when I enter the room she’s in, until she’s out the door (or window if available)

I must say I haven’t noticed this. I am also on Windows 23H2 but mostly I use ShareX. Will have a play this evening.

Setting > System > Multitasking > Snap windows

Yep, seems to jump about 80 pixels North on my system. I guess it's the same team that made the Explorer menu pop up instead of down.

If I turn off snap, there is no way to close the Snipping Tool window unless I go into Task Manager and stop it from there, and then reload it and fiddle around while it continues to move up the screen ad-nauseum.

If I snap it to the side of the screen it doesn't move around and I don't have to keep dragging the window down every few snips. It's the only fix I have found, so far.

One more Windows weirdness to deal with.

At this point, I think MS could mess up boiling water. I am noticing quite a few "quirks"** with the new upgrade and this is one of them. I waited too long to revert back to 23H2, so I just have to deal with it now and hope that future updates make things a little more stable.

** What I really mean to say here is a long string of expletive laden words that are unsuitable for the forum. I am becoming the Gordon Ramsay of the Windows world. :censored:

Snipping tool crept off-screen - menu bar off-screen

I take a lot of screen snips using Snipping Tool. I have the Snipping Tool's "Multiple Windows" setting enabled so that each click of New creates a new Snipping Tool "window". I'm not sure when this started but I've only noticed it on Windows 11 and only with Snipping Tool. My snipping tool...

its been an issue for a while. but Lightshot is another option. stays in tray.. so definitely doesn't move lol

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Whichever way I start it and whatever I do with it, it makes only one snip, previous is discarded. It's been like that forever so I don't remember what I did to it but think it has something to do with caching.

Completely lost out on a time sensitive screen shot the other day because of snipping tool. My image just *vanished*. This is why I insist on using CTRL + PRTSC 99% of the time. Snipping Tool has let me down so many times in the past.

My snipping tool works pretty well except that there are some things it seems I'm not allowed to screenshot, but if I take the focus off that window by clicking the desktop then I can screenshot it fine. The problem with that is I can't screenshot dropdown menus.

The other problem is the screenrecord will truncate a lot of the video if it runs too long, but I'm thinking a memory setting in the bios might fix that.

Your capture software should be capable of capturing any object, on any desktop/monitor, in any state!
If not, find something better!
Being able to annotate on-the-fly is a bonus! ;-)
