Glad you like Paint.NET and highlight it.
I discovered it this year. It is a lot lighter than apps such Gimp, and pretty easier too.

Different optional extensions made by some developers are available.
I found a particular interesting and useful one which enables to Paste Opacity only.

The popular IcoFX app is very handy for many edits, and easy for fast icon resource extractions (as well as building DLL resources*).
About the free old version 1.6.4, I recommend the portable one, working "as good as" the one to install.
It is important to mention that both versions have a short stamp memory, and that the app crashes after a certain amount of image copies/edits. To avoid this as much as possible, save your work, close and restart the app regularly.

On the official website, only paid versions have been provided since.
Here are both old versions, from an old popular french gratilog.net repository, zero malware guaranteed (checked with Virus Total) :

*: DLL resource files must first be saved with typing ".icl" as file extension, then renamed in Explorer as ".dll".
Though, any resource file don't need extension renaming to be opened (you can just drag the file into the app window).

Those icons are based off of the Fluent Design System and "Segoe Fluent Icon" file as well.
I did great at making those icons but it's too amazing that I have 2 zip files for each custom icon resource.

• Copy "imageres.dll.mun" in a place where you will edit it with ResourceHacker.
• Remove ".mun" or add ".res" to the file
• Run ResourceHacker as administrator.
• Replace the icon(s) needed in the "Icon Group" section, then save the file.
• Rename the file extension as the original.

The original "imageres" file will have to be replaced "Windows Offline" because it is running in the processes.
But before replacing it, I place it in a convenient location, just on the Desktop or else at the root of C:\.


Now restart your computer with Windows Offline.

Giant screenshots can sometime be acceptable when they are directly related to the dedicated topic.
Appended images can be resized in post, and they appear in full original size when posted with clicking on them (+optional zoom available).
You can also edit quotes just to show up the concerned passage(s).
Off topic images can be optionally displayed thanks to the "Spoiler" button, but they are best welcome in PM.

IcoFx is a great icon design app (I don't use it anymore)! Like Photoshop, it also supports layers. You don't even need to Paint.NET.

If you like you can work with GIMP for raster jobs! And work with InkScape for vector jobs! Both of them are free and lite. There is also a portable version of them. They are not complicated design apps, you would learn how to use their tools very simple!

The names of the extra icons are sometimes just examples.
If ever you spot wrong names in the system icons which you are sure to know the correct ones, please notify me.
(I already corrected a few in the Mega repository).

 

The MEGA download looks a little odd for my slow internet download speed. So, I can't even download the file from MEGA, because it takes 1 hour or so to get this slow download to run. Any download mirrors to choose rather than MEGA.

Disable your VPN (or Proxy)! MEGA has a conflict with them (VPNs). MEGA is one of the best and fastest file-sharing hosts.

The entire repository may not be necessary to you.
You can browse and download any separate folder.
They are not very heavy individually.

All the new custom/reworked system icons are in the "ElevenForum" Section.

An update is coming very shortly, with :

Wait, I forgot something... I found more icons that are from some kind of Microsoft website.

My first reply of September, I guess... What does those icons in Windows 11 looks like in an alternative universe? Here's the answer.

My second reply at the same day... Decided to update those icons to make it look better and to put those icons in a new category. I decided to name these as "Settings - High-Quality Navigation Pane Icons", because I remade it to make the icons see better.


Here's also the bonus icons as well:

I decided to add new ones & update the old ones to make it look better.


These icons feature an update to the Larger Formatted Laptop icon, but it also has new icons like Biometric Device, Display Settings, Focus Assist, Television Extender Device, Mobile Hotspot, an Alternative Personalization icon, Projection, Remote Control, Smart Card, and a Tablet/Pen PC. It looks more perfect as it was.

As I'm using LibreWolf, I managed to adapt the REG file for it, and it works perfectly.



How to apply your custom PDF File icon :

• Chose your Icon Style version
• Rename it : "pdf.ico"
• Place it in the "Program Files" Browser folder
• Run the associated registry command file
• Open your PC settings, go to "Apps", "Default programs" and "Apps by file type"
• Scroll down to ".pdf" and assign the browser used.

Instructions with REG file to apply included with the set.

New Icons & Updates 3

We're doing it again, this time, those will be adding new icons and updating the old ones to new ones. These updates include the new Battery icons with 2 different variants, special icons based off of the Fluent Icon fonts, and 3 different "3D Objects" Cube icons which includes Light, Dark, & Beige. (Hover over an icon using a cursor to see alternative text)




The "Victory Lion" icon is rarely used in a TrueType icon font named "Segoe MVR MDL2 Assets", It's a normal font with MDL2 icons inside with largest-scaled monochrome icons which includes images of music genres, objects, and travel.
