Hi guys. Thanks for being here.

I have been using Allway Sync Pro for the last few years. I paid for the Lifetime version. Good Sync acquired the software, and they want me to pay for the subscription model – usual for-profit hungry companies. This programme synchronises my HDD to my NAS. It USED to do it automatically.

I am using Windows Task Scheduler from instructions on You Tube specifically for Allway Sunc Pro.

It stopped about a year ago while still on Win 10 Pro now on Win 11 Pro. I originally reached to the You Tuber who loved the programme and used Task Scheduler. I followed his instructions, cand it was stable for a long time. I reached out to him when it failed to automatically synchronise – nothing. I reached out to the new company and – no they want me to transfer to the subscription model.

Can you help?

it would look like you will have to find new software to do your required sync task because it looks like the new company that now owns this Allways Sync Pro have changed the terms and conditions of the software agreement and there is nothing anyone here would be able to anything about that.

you could look at FreeFileSync which may meet your needs.

the free version does most things but there is also a 'donation' version which has more options.
best of luck, Steve ..

Hi Steve – thank you for the reply. It is all about the money.

I trailed FreeFileSync for about a month. My big problem was with a specific type of file; it had issues with. *.MYO, I synchronised the files, but it continued to tell me that the files had changed even if I had done no work. I tried this a number of times with different file types:

Synchronise the folder – tick all done

The synchronise it again – and there was NO activity in the folder as it is only me and I sat and did not work on the file.

It said the group of files changed.

I cannot be sure if the files actually did get synchronise to my other PC.

It did not do it with all *.MYO files just some and it sometimes changed which ones.

I did the same operation with other files and on the second synchronisation, it said there was no change – as expected as I had recently done a synchronisation.

FreeFileSync did not like my important files.

Thanks for the suggestion.

My thinking is that, while I followed the blokes’ instructions in the You Tube and it worked for a long time, perhaps things change.

Here are some screenshots from the Task Scheduler:

What do you think?

there is a simple way to check that. completely delete this task from task scheduler. restart, then set it up again.
this way you eliminate at least one possible problem.

best of luck, Steve ..

Means that if you rt click on the file and choose properties you will likely find that the datetime has changed and is changing constantly. This would be due to a pgm running in the background. Delete said program and your sync would hold. However, I think you are probably intentionally trying to keep the file "current" so chasing your own tail. Suggestion - use a different method to back up your system. I use Terabyte Image4Windows but there are many. Whatever you choose, make sure that you can quickly and easily restore your full bootable disk/ssd to the backup/image point.

Thanks guys.

I have deleted and reinitiated the Task many times.

But if I am doing it wrong, I do not know I am doing it wrong, so I will continue to do it wrong.

So that is why I added the screen shots.

I would like the synchronisation to be automatic. It used to run a 10:30pm and it did work, but not so now.

I went to the log and it says “Maintenance state has changed” – what does this mean?

Maintenance state has changed
Windows has maintenance task that run during idle, i guess that is from that.
Did you find that in the Eventvwr?

For you allway sync scheduled task, did you try to schedule the task in the Allway sync program it self as well?

2 things i notice in printscreen.
- Not giving up password, while you want it to run also when not logged in.
- At tab Action, you do start the process allwaysync with some parameter, however i don't see any sync Jobs that you want to start? As i would expect a scheduled task to initiate a Sync for a certain Task, and not only start the program.

I have no idea what this means.

I can only assume (I haven’t used Allway Sync for a couple of years but I do own a copy) that the parameters start a job/s within Always sync
The parameters\task are in plain sight. syncapp.exe -s -e -m which will be run from Allway Sync\Bin\
The Schedule, as Fox mentions, runs a sync job between Fox’s HDD to their NAS

The Task runs Allway Sync, Allway Sync runs the task\job stipulated in the program.

Correct me if I am wrong, Fox.

Hi Mate – thanks I thought the thread was dead.

As I put up the screen shots for Task Scheduler it used to work and now it does not

The basic problem is the task now does not run. It used to work under Win 10, then not and now never worked under Win 11.

For FreeFileSync, it thinks that the .MYO files change, even though they do not. There is a core group of MYO file that are flagged as always different. Although they are not.

Thank you.

I had a similar problem with files being synced by FreeFileSync from Plex media, had to exclude them . There is a possibility that the files might be updated and identified as new by FreeFileSync?
Are you using RealTimeSync for instant syncing? Or are you manually syncing?
