Testing Chigaco Design on windows 11

Hey everyone,

as windows 24 h2 has shown the immersive experience of destroing innovative and modern design guidelines and GTK applications are robust enough to run even on Validation os my idea was to implement a new unique retrospective Desktop experience. It was done using AI and CSS

TaskBar: It features buttons for open windows and a handy clock, making window management super easy!
iIt ncludes a simple menu for launching apps, logging out, or shutting down—everything feels intuitive.

Desktop: shows applications and lets you open these icons.
CSS Styling: The TaskBar has a stylish look thanks to dedicated CSS styles.

The shell itself can be found at and might causing trouble if used wrong. Might break your system. Start with splash.exe. Its a full shell replacement. And it conflicts a bit with explorer.exe optically. 0-5-beta · main · Saugschmerle Frieder / 11 Shell - GTK · GitLab .

Kinda just looks like windows from 20-25 years ago

The current Build of Win11 Version 24H2 is 26100.3194. Haven't seen the Chigaco thing but there once was mention of Chicago.

That is the point of it, could also use an luna or early aero style. But for this i would need to use msstyles or windowblinds. It works too of course.

Oh no. Really. Then i need to do a fresh install in another vm. Bit yes it should work too.

Have looked at the systray. Its defined in shell32 something. Minhook is able to point at where its located but was not able to copy the systray functionality. It is working on NTshell/Calmira and Reactos explorer and on WinXShell. All of these have their source code online but did not get it working..
