Thud noise through speakers on Shutdown

Windows 11
About 2 months ago I had reason to perform a fresh install of Windows 11 on my AMD PC (I built it myself in January 2020). I became fed up of the tinny sound coming from an old and very inexpensive speaker system, and in April 2024 I bought a pair of Kanto YU2 small 'active' speakers which take digital output via USB and have their own DAC and amplifier. They are connected to each other simply by a short piece of speaker cable. I like them very much, despite their small size limiting the bass output.
The fresh installation I mentioned above gave me Windows 11 24H2 , and I have used it without much by way of problems since then.
However, there is an annoying loud 'thud' noise coming through the speakers when I shutdown the PC. It only lasts a fraction of a second, and the only way that I have manged to stop it, is by turning fully down the volume control on the back face of one of the speakers. Of curse, I then forget to turn it up at the next boot.
If I had the speakers set to give me a decent volume level, the 'thud' would be so loud as to make me worry about its physical effect on the speakers themselves.
Nothing other than the clean installation has happened to bring about this unwelcome noise. I am no electrician, but I once had a Musical Fidelity CD player that made the same noise through my large HI-Fi speakers, if I didn't remember to turn off or turn down my Musical Fidelity amplifier first.
Any ideas as to what is going on here on my PC?

This may not be much help but I'm going to say possibly a driver issue, maybe for USB, maybe for audio. Could it be anything related to 'USB Suspend' ? which is a power plan setting and which suspends inactive USB devices. Just random thoughts.

What I would always recommend is that you have a disk image to go back to and then you can play around and try stuff without worry. You could perhaps try different drivers then, maybe seeing if you could use the older ones. No worries of messing anything up with a disk image to fall back on.

Again random thoughts. Did you let the clean install pickup all the drivers needed via Windows Update or did you install your own drivers from elsewhere.

I'm sure the others will have some other ideas to on this.

Thank you for that. I had never heard of USB Suspend. Hoiwever, on checking to set it up, I found that it was already the default, and that I have been using it without realising. I let the clean install get drivers from Windows Update.

I might try the manufacturer's drivers to see if the problem exists with those installed.

Right. Wel I have looked at the speaker manufacturers wwnsite and it says nothing about drivers. I have found a complaint aured online that complains of a fault (not like mine) and teh response from the manufacturers is to say explicitly that thye do not supply driversm and Microsoft automatically downloads drivers on intallation of the speakers. the advice is to replace the USB cable.

OK Guys. You are geniuses (genii?). Well, whatever --- Problem solved, and I think I know what happened. Prior to buying these speakers I borrowed a pair (different make) that were the first USB -DAC speakers that I had ever connected o my system. When I gave them back to their owner and ordered my present pair, I just followed the instructions and didn't give a thought to drivers, so I assume that the existing driver was used. I used Device Manager to uninstall the speakers, shut down and started up again. then i set the volume to my usual sort of listening level and powered down. NO THUDDING NOISE! Yay!
