@Edwin and @lafargeotte and others,

My TB 118.0b2 lost its voice today. I have the Incoming mail notification set to play a wav sound from Windows\Media, but it ain't playing any more. In settings, when I hit the Play button, nothing happens. Then when I hit the Browse button, nothing happens. I've checked the file, the sound system, and the speakers. AOK. So, I thought perhaps the installation had an idiosyncratic bug, so I downloaded and installed a new copy to a different folder, and put my other Profile into it and ran it. Same voiceless performance.

Anybody else getting this soundless aberration?

BTW, my other TB installation (115.2) talks to me loud and clear when a message arrives. Same exact Profile (I copied and pasted it).

Ideas? Hypotheses? Conjectures? Wild hairs?

Yeah..., well, I raced through uninstalling 115 with Revo and, because I'm an idiot, I failed to stop and realize that all the Profile folders are in one AppData folder, even though I installed it on the D drive, and fwit, away they went!!! 🤦‍♂️
I think I can fetch them out of the Recycle Bin though.

Hope so. I never have that problem, on accounta my portables have their profiles in their program directories, and if there’s anything in that.AppData folder ever, I can send it directly into oblivion with no consequences. TB has no files at all on my C:\ drive. Zero. Works.

Hi,
I want to increase the height of the email/message list items (in table view) only, but unfortunately it does not work:

Code:
table[is="tree-view-table"] tbody tr {
  line-height: 24px !important;
}
or
Code:
table.tree-table tbody tr {
  line-height: 24px !important;
}
or
Code:
#threadTree tbody tr {
  line-height: 24px !important;
}
None of them worked, any idea?

Code:

It looks promising, but even this has no effect in my TB 115.2.0 (64-bit) :-(

Have you tried changing the 24px value to a higher value? At least it appears to work in Versions 117b & 118b. Unless you have any other code in your CSS file which is over-riding this code.

eg: at a value of 8px (using Compact view) I get this:

8px.png

and at a value of 36px I get:

36px.png

Thanks for testing!
I made it work, thanks to you!

In my very first line I had such namespace headline:
Code:
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");
Obviously this prevented some (not all!) css changes to not work. I removed this line and it is working!
Thanks again!

@Edwin and @lafargeotte and others,

So, I thought perhaps the installation had an idiosyncratic bug, so I downloaded and installed a new copy to a different folder, and put my other Profile into it and ran it. Same voiceless performance.
I think there is a glitch in that profile, probably in the Config Editor, that 118 didn't like. So I wiped that installation, downloaded and "installed" a fresh copy of the Beta Portable, went through all of the five-to-ten minute process of setting everything the way I wanted it, copied my chrome folder over, copied my Local Folders email over, reset the icon colors in the folder pane, reset the colors in the Spaces Toolbar, reset the Taskbar icon to the correct (new) TBird icon, and the shortcut to the right executable, ...

and I've got my ding-dong back!

Now for those who think I'm absolutely nuts to go through all that just to get a doorbell noise back in a beta program that probably has other glitches I haven't yet found, ...

take a hike! I'm a retired old man and a dedicated "computer enthusiast," and this kind of thing is my principal hobby and my daily exercise (of the enjoyable kind). It's satisfying and fun to find a fix for even the most minor of details. So there. :winkt:

(And don't even think about playing around with the term ding-dong!)

@das10 and @Edwin and others here,

Yesterday, I posted a new thread about my three TB installations misbehaving (two 115s and one 118):

Today, just now, I tried running each without the chrome folder, and all three behaved: the instant I opened a new write window, the cursor in the TO: blank blinked at me, ready to be typed into.

Anyway, it seems to be something in the userChrome rules that's interfering with the Write window.

Can you think of anything in the CSS files that would bust the TO: blank on both versions of TB? They're both running identical chrome folders, but the profiles are slightly different overall, because I reconfigured the 118 from scratch to build a new profile. The two 115 profiles are identical.

PS: both versions updated this morning painlessly, even though they're both (all three, actually) portables.

Wisewiz; which Thunderbird theme are you using (Light, System or Dark) ? I notice a blank cursor in the Write "To" box only if I use the "System" theme. It is to do with the backgrounds set in the Write Window. Try this to see if it make any difference:
Code:
/* folders list HOVER color */
/* can change the background-color value to ay particular value */
#folderTree li > .container:hover {
  background-color: #0D4D92    !important;
  color:            white    !important;
}

/* folder selected color - make sure icons and twisty dont get washed out */
