Thunderbird 115: CSS Customization

When the Portable 115(+) is ready, I'll be able to clean up the mess I have in Start that results from having two different versions of Thunderbird on both my office machines.

I don't know for sure, but I think the developers would not be pleased if we posted the link publicly. They'll put it on TBird.net when they're ready for a public release. We're able to watch the development because we commented privately to them, and they then included us on the mailing list.

With version 115, there has been a re-write of the Thunderbird code (so not all old CSS would work in the new version and vice versa).

I think anyone interested in Thunderbird should read the whole essay (maybe three-five minute read) on the why's and wherefore's of the current state of things. The Divider between the Message Pane and the Reading Pane. I use Vertical View in the UI.

Hey folks, if like me you find that the overall font in the new TB 115 is too small, you can increase it using the past method... yes, it still works.:

Tools > Settings > General, then go all the way to the bottom and click on Config Editor.
Then copy and paste this code into the address bar:
layout.css.devPixelsPerPx and hit Enter.
You'll see that it's at -1.0. You can set it to whatever you like (I set mine to 1.25), and then click on the blue check mark. Done! :thumbsup:

OIC. But I reset the Config Editor with mail.ui.display.dateformat.today, and entered 1, which = use the system long date, and got a mess. No idea where that extra 023 came from. I'll just put it back the way it was. I have the day, date, and time in the tray clock, ticking away the seconds, anyway. Image in a min.

EDIT: Turned out to be short date was the right setting, not long. For mail.ui.display.dateformat.today, enter 2, and it works.

Maybe it has to do with my Canada settings (I know, you're a fellow Canuck), with my tray clock showing Sun 23 Jul 23, and above that, the clock.
Canadian regional always has the number before the month: Southern neighbours say "July twenty-third" when we say "23(rd) July" -- or at least some of us do. No matter.

No, no commas. I think they're superfluous with my format (word num word num), so I took 'em out. (ddd dd MMM yy)

Might be a region thing, mine's set to English US.

Nope. Tried it with Regional US, but still got the artefact 023 at the front.
I'm not giving up; I just decided I really like the default way of adding my well-formed date to messages older than today and leaving my today messages with just the time. I was just expiddimenting, yah.

Had a thought: I had set it to Long Date format, which in my case is identical to short date format (yes, I set it that way), but I hadn't tried setting it to short date format. That works. 0 for no date, 1 for long date, 2 for short date.

In my Calendar, the pop up boxes (new task, reminder etc) are still very big, in fact the new task box is too tall for my screen, the top quarter is not visible, and if I click to resize from the bottom the box falls and the top becomes visible but the bottom is cut off (see screenshots).
Any ideas how I make them smaller please?
