I just run Windows Update on auto and it has not reinstalled anything that X-Lite stripped out. I'm very happy to see the back of Edge as it was reinstalling every week. I don't hate Edge, I just prefer Brave.
So after installing, I'll go ahead and resume updates and let it do it's thing as normal. Windows update doesn't always give me the latest drivers. Should I check the rest with a third party driver checker?

I would never use a third-party driver installer. Every company seems to use its own driver version numbering system and these utilities often install older drivers. Most driver updates are not even essential, unless you have a specific problem. Some drivers may be customised by the computer manufacturer and the hardware manufacturer's driver will stop any customisations working.

Just export all your current drivers first and import them after installing X-Lite - this saves time and means X-Lite will have the correct drivers for things like cameras, audio, fingerprint sensors etc.

See post #100.

This is not essential, but when I install a new OS, I often find I have no mouse/touchpad. To get round this, I bought a cheap USB mouse.

OK. 👍 Sounds good. I'll just update from MS after Installing and won't worry about if there is something newer. I have Intel and use their driver updater and also HP for manufacturer updates. For my mouse 🖱 I have Logitech drivers.

"I've always wondered about resuming updates on these X=Lite builds. They say to keep it off but then how do you get the drivers that you need if you don't enable it? Or do you enable it and then pause after?"

When installing 24H2 from X-Lite, I just let the updates run, right after the install. This gets me any drivers or updates that I many need.
Then I turn auto updates OFF.
Any subsequent updates I may get, I get in an update Pack from X-Lite. That can update the Build numbers.
So far, never a problem with following that regimen. And, I don't have to deal with "Big Brother".

Any day that I can avoid dealing with 'Big Brother' is a good day in my life.

Now my question is: What happens to this build if you reinstall like "Fix problems using Windows Update" or "Reset this PC"???

good or bad,

I have installed Tiny11 anywhere, anytime, where Windows 11 needed. my computers haven't seen any issue on Windows updates.
(just click, "run updates then shutdown" when shutdown PC)

So I've been messing around with X-Lite but have another question. I'm struggling to understand how this is any more secure if updates are disabled. I understand the update packs are available on the site, but for example, say Defender itself is updated? You can update definitions manually, but what about the program itself? Is that updated in the update pack? Sorry, just trying to understand the update process a little more. I'm so used to just relying on Windows Update that I'm not sure how it works beyond that. I hope that makes sense, and thnx in advance for any insight.

It's not meant to be updated. I have windows defender on my win11 removed and the performance is so much better. I'm safe to what I Do so. I see on xlite they have changed a lot of things that one should be safe upon as gaming goes

I'm runnin Widows X-Lite and I turned updates back on. No problems and it is still very fast. I use a third-party anti-malware so Defender is mostly off.
