Solved Unable to install Printer on new ThinkPad

Your account is an admin account or you’re using the baked-in Administrat
This laptop came with administrative account. I have an old habit of setting up my computers with admin account and then running with a standard after they are set up.

An Admin, Standard, guest, public and a WSIaccount., whatever that is. All my other computers have been "Win ********* Home.

I am running SFC now and next I do the DISM bit, but if I must, I will do a repair install. I will post back with the results.

Agree whole heartily, I am 85 and do not mind aging but I do not care for being so bluntly reminded as a computer can do. Now that you have helped me see the error I can see that if I would spent more time thinking instead of hurrying may have avoided a bit of trouble. I should have caught the change of name.

I went to a very early restore point this AM. It took about 15 minutes and gave me my switch user profiles back; All back but the Administrative one. It still shows "Microsoft.com Team". Now I need to rid of the Microsoft.com Team Profile and get my Admin file back. Busy this AM back to work this afternoon. Thanks for the help. I will try to get my printer later also. And post back.

I found the answer to my problem.

Now to get my original Adin user profile back and hide the MS.com one that is there now It is still in C://users, I just cannot access it.

Many thanks for the help. Your comment in # 22 above is what led to the fix odd as it may seem.

FYI - - - details

When I opened up my laptop I was in a hurry because I have a bit of research to do in January and do not know how much time it will involve. It booted up with a screen telling me get into Microsoft Teams. I dismissed MS Teams. I First Surfed Ninite. It has a big list of programs, and one fills in a checkmark of the ones he wants on his computer, then starts it running and he can go do something else while Ninite installs every program wanted. Ninite installed 12 programs. It is a handy way to update all the programs it installs also. Next, I added a standard profile and an administrative profile and made of the setting changes that I prefer. The next day I tried to install the stuff needed to print out stuff. Somewhere during trying to get the printer functioning the Microsoft.com Teams user profile appeared, and I was in too much of a hurry to notice. I do not know if the story of the hair and turtle is two hundred or two thousand years old, but I gather I needed to learn from it again.

I did not go to the hidden administrative account; the Team one came up and I was too much of a hurry to notice. Now I cannot remove the Team Account but that is for another time. I used the Settings/ Apps /installed apps to remove Microsoft Teams, but it did not take it all out. Not a problem, just an irritation.

If and when I feel like ridding of the Teams user profile, I have bookmarked the W11 Forums page on doing so and will start there. Oh yes, I can’t reinstall the MS Teams because it is already installed. 😊

Thanks again.

Teams Profile?

1) are you saying you got logged in with a Microsoft Account instead of a local account?

2) use RevoUninstaller (Portable) to uninstall Teams.

1)-Yes, I was in too much of a hurry to notice to my regret.

2) I usually use Revo, but I must get Teams back to do so and after following the instructions by Microsoft, it did not remove all of Teams and when I tried to reinstall it, I was told that it was installed. I have my work planned for this winter to get done first so I will get at removing Teams another time. All is working that I need and I can't see where the MicrosoftTeams.com profile is a must do now. It is not in the C://users folder. I must be a part of MS Teams that was not removed, and I was using my new administrative profile when trying to remove Teams.

I will be working on the kitchen table where I will lots of room. It may seem odd, but I use my computer to keep my mind OK. I am 85 and I have seen what happens to people whose main activity is watching TV. That is why I have perennial beds all around the house also, to keep my body in decent shape. I have a lot of manual labor to do this summer. At my age I can work six hours a day for four days if I pace myself then I need I usually need three days to recuperate.

There is a bit of confusion here, I think.

When I first booted up the ThinkPad it wanted me to setup Teams. I don’t remember how, but I rid of the Team’s screen. Then I used the temporary account (It is gone now) to use Ninite to install 12 programs and set up two user profiles: a Standard and Administrative. I am not sure which I did first.

The next day I tried to get the printer installed and had a lot of problems. Some time while trying to get the laptop to printout, another profile appeared, “Micrrsoft.com Teams” and I was in too much of a hurry to notice it was the profile that I was using. This teams profile (an Admin one) did not appear in C://users but did show in the sign in screen.

After we got the laptop able to printout stuff I created an additional administrative user profile. I think the Original Admin profile may have had some connection with MS.com Teams because I did not create the Teams profile. After I removed Teams as MS directed from a search, the Teams profile stayed, though only showing up in the sign in screen and when switching user profiles. Also, later, as a result of your post above (#31), I went into the Control Panel/ users and found the Team profile listed there and rid of it. Somewhere between yesterday and my first day the first admin profile disappeared along with the temporary setup profile. No confusion here at all. :) So, I now have both a
Standard and Admin user profile.

One must have a sense of humor to live a life where one happy and satisfied. You have helped me three ways in this thread; I can print from this laptop, I rid of the mysterious Micsosoft.com Teams profile and have kept my mind busy for a week now to hold off Alzheimer’s. Now maybe I move out to the kitchen table and get to work. As such I am satisfied for now and likely will later this year look and primp up things on the ThinkPad.
