I haven't done it, but as far as I know you must select two or more images before the option is available. You cannot slide show with a single image, obviously. If you see any error, post it so we can check it.

I use it on all my machines. You need to select Slideshow, then click the Browse button and select a folder that contains the pictures you want to use. I keep mine in a folder I've named Wallpaper.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I have been using 'Slideshow' for years. Everytime I selected it, it would return to one of the other options.
I have also had account & OneDrive problems but all is well now and Slideshow works.

When I couldn't get an early build of 24H2 desktop slideshow to work I found that changing the desktop theme back and forth would get it going until the next reboot. Then I'd have to change it again lol. Eventually MS did some kind of update that fixed the problem but sounds like you already solved your problem now.
