I have a new install of win 11 on a second partition - basically a dual boot system.
It's a bit unorthodox but I have win 10 on partition 0 and win 11 on partition 1 - each is a "primary" partition and has its own boot files.
I am able to choose which partition I want through my bios.
This is my second attempt at an install of win 11.
The first time, there were some other small partitions on the drive without drive letters (on was a recovery partition from the original machine, but there were I think two others). During this install of win 11, I was able to do updates and an upgrade to 11 pro fine.
However, I somehow managed to mess up my boot record and what i did to recover it was to delete the other partitions, leaving just the two OS partitions defined as primary, then rebuild the MBR (using Disk Genius). Then I did a new install of 11 on one of the partitions.
Since then, I can't install any updates that require a restart (i.e. in this case 22H2), and I can't upgrade to pro either, I get a "something went wrong" message and then numerous restarts and a rollback.
I get the feeling I need to sort out my boot record somehow, but not sure what I need to do.
My system properties actually does say 22H2, even though the update failed. However version is still Home not Pro.
