If you'd like to change your Ten Forums and Eleven Forum name to be the same then send a PM to z3r010 asking for the changes you'd like, he's the administrator for all the sites. You'd probably have to do that on Ten Forums, I'm not sure you've been a member here long enough to be allowed to send PMs yet.

When you say 'linked' do you mean you now have to sign in to Windows with your MS account? In Win10 and Win11 it's all too easy to accidentally switch to using an MS account. If you ever sign into the Store or the free Office app you have to be really careful what you click, MS try to sucker you into switching to an MS account. If so, you can easily switch back to a local account.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I followed Brinks tutorial on how to change to a local account rather that my MS account. as you can see in the screen shot I don't see the link to change it to a local account.


*UPDATE
I fixed it the link that says " stop signing into Microsoft account automatically and now it says I have a local account

One last thing for today. In Win 10 I used a program from StarDock call "Start 10" which allowed me to chose the start button to look like the old Win 7 tree not the tiles in Win 10.

I installed it but it didn't take effect in Win 11. I was able to get rid of the widgets, now all the apps I use are in the middle like Apple. How can I mover those over to the left side like Win 10? I know StarDock has a new app called Start 11 which I know it does the same thing as my Start 10. Th difference is my start 10 was a purchase and star 11 is a yearly subscription. I would like to use Start 10 any idea why it doesn't work in Win 11?

On a different note, how do I get to the advanced mode to either create new posts or reply in this forum?

Your screenshot showed you hadn't finalised the switch to an MS account. The final step, a verfication code sent to your email addreess or your phone, had yet to be completed. If you had verified your account that 'stop signing into all Microsoft apps automatically' link would have become the expected 'sign in with a local account instead' one.

I will check that out ASAP, Now that I think about the MS account that it says wasn't verified I use for junk mail and spam so it doesn't matter that it isn't verified. As long as Win 11 is local now is my main concern.

I assume you mean the 'Go advanced' button you are used to using on Ten Forums that gives you a preview of the post as it would appear. Things work a little differently here.

The Preview button at the top right of the editor toggles between being able to edit or showing a preview of the post.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Glad you have it looking how you'd like it.

Personally I don't use 3rd-party apps to modify Start. I learned how to adapt to the Win10 Start menu when I upgraded to 10 from 7, adding my own items to All apps and grouping tiles. I did much the same when I upgraded from 10 to 11.

I always liked the win 7 start menu and had it on Win 10 so I added it to Win 11. I like it
