What fraction of users have migrated to Windows 11 on their main system?

If I could get the print to show up larger (already have it jacked up to 150%) on our Senior Center's 40" TV screen, I would! We're sitting in the Board Room and those at the "bottom" end of the table still can't see very well.

Part of me wants to think they're having trouble getting features and things to work, so they push out something, no matter what it is.

I'm all for giving Microsoft a chance to put things back, like folder previews and being able to move taskview wherever we want it. But how much longer is it gonna take?

Anyway, just because one can't see an improvement doesn't mean it isn't there. It simply means you haven't noticed it (or are simply denying to yourself it exists).

Me too, @Dru2. No matter whether Microsoft is listening to their corporate clients or those of us out here in the trenches, I believe security is my and their number one priority.

I also believe Microsoft and OEMs have been working together for more security in both hardware and software.

That doesn't make me any happier with the missing features in Windows 11. I still want the ability to move my taskbar wherever I want it. I'd also like to have QuickLaunch back.

I see the failure to release a new Dev build for two weeks as a sign that we are going to get a build worthy our time and effort to install. I have been wondering about what is going to be fixed and will are we getting any new features.

I somewhat agree with @glasskuter, Windows 11 is not just about security. Part of it is about security and the other part is about increasing sales for both MS and the OEMs. In the long term though we all are going to benefit.

Yeah, they can start with the Taskbar and work from there. Maybe re-design the right-click context menu as well. I'd be happy with those two fixes.

Looking at the few last posts, I think it's worth remembering that any "features" that you often talk about are not really features of the OS itself, but rather those of the GUI. I've heard the argument that "the GUI is the OS" often enough and I could never agree to it. True, the GUI comes "bundled" with the OS and there is no way to completely remove the GUI. As an opposite example, look at Android. Every phone comes with a certain GUI - the stock launcher - and every manufacturer makes its own. If you really care about these things you can install a new launcher in your phone, you can change every aspect of its appearance, however, the OS - Android - will still be the same. Linux (unsurprisingly, since Android is based on Linux or at least has the same UNIX ancestry) is similar in the sense that you can use different "window managers" to change the look and feel of your system. The OS however, remains the same (in this case, it's the Linux kernel). Now, Windows went a different way and while we can change the look and feel by installing third party software that changes the behavior of the GUI, these programs never truly replace the built-in GUI in Windows.

I completely agree with @Dch48, Windows 8 had a horrible GUI, I am happy I could skip it completely (I did not need a new machine at the time). Windows 10 GUI has improved in some aspects, but it became even worse in others. W11 goes in the same direction.

What is it that I don't like about it? The idea that Windows should look and feel the same on desktops, laptops, and tablets. I find that idiotic. Desktop is not tablet, it's not used the same way, it is not used for the same purpose. Why on Earth should the GUI look the same there?

For myself it sure doesn't.

Since migrating to Windows 11, that's all I use exclusively as I no longer have any Windows 10 machines :)

In fact, I need to reinstall Win 10 on at least one of my machines just so I have an active Win 10 system.

Windows 10 is my main OS. I use Windows 10 for everything that matters.

As an Insider, I use Windows 11 DEV Channel for testing.

Sometimes it's a bit inconvenient to boot into one, then find I need to boot into the other . . . but that's OK.

I have two fully supported Win11 laptops, one unsupported device running Win11, and five unsupported machines that are staying firmly on Win10 until end of support. I'll use whichever one comes to hand first, though I have a slight bias towards using Win11.

I use 11 most of the time . I use 10 when I'm in the bedroom or living room and have to use my laptop. 90% of the time, I'm on 11 though. I have tweaked nothing in it. I'm fine with the taskbar since mine has never been anywhere but at the bottom and I have never used some of the other things they removed from it. My only 2 things I would like to see changed is that stupid, useless, Recommended section at the bottom of the Start Menu. Let me remove it and make more room for pins. Sometimes the right click context menu annoys me but I can live with it.

I find dev/ insider channels not worth the trouble there's enough bugs in normal releases lol

But yeah 11 curiosity has worn off for me personally
MS just moved stuff around under a new desktop theme so hardly earth shattering.

EZ swap dual ssd enclosure has made life very easy to swap out os's for myself

Basic start menu changes always annoy me the most and I'm sure not going to pay money to let a third party change it
So I stick with 10 since there really isn't a lot of measurable differences to live with silly ms 11 design changes and even more obnoxious security.

All I can say is some stuff clearly show ms listened to nobody

Taskbar is an important factor to some peoples work flow I'd never discount their choice just because I didn't use it that way but is just one example of ms not listening or are just flat out dumb lol

Same goes for Show More context menu and a bunch of other little stuff clearly more signs MS is not listening to insiders.

I have something like that in my old desktop except it's only single drive. I bought two of them so I could get an extra drive tray. I would have moved it to my new desktop, but it doesn't have any external drive bays.

For me it was to use two different versions of Windows while being able to keep them separated from each other.
