What Happened to Printing?

After the latest large update I am on 22621.

Printing has changed.

I print a lot of labels and they reach me in the form of a jpg. I usually have to manually set the height of the jpg to 15cm and I would do this in the pop-up print page.

The print popup now seems to have changed though, and is a standard windows 11 thing, but nolonger contains most of the old options, including the ability to edit the print dimensions.

It also doesn't show a preview either. It used to.

Good old Microsoft breaking stuff that was just fine.

Does anyone know how I can do what I need to do? Or perhaps suggest another app that is better than Windows 11?

I don't have a printer, so I can't even pull up this screen, but I would check to see if the things in the YELLOW boxes
have anything to do with your issue.

Try scrolling down to 'more settings'. I have an HP printer it opens HP Smart.

Thank you for the replies.

I have tried all of the options on the print popup and nothing helps. I guess, unfortunately, this is down to the app I am using, it must have use the windows default which doesn't have any fine settings now. When I click on advanced it goes to a screen that I think is part of the printer driver, and for my printer it doesn't give me the ability to set the tabs and print size.

I am not sure what the way forward is. I guess I need a new application that doesn't use the windows dumbed down print interface.

I do wish Microsoft would stop removing functionality.

I noticed it shows 'Printing from Win32 application - Print'.
If you have a folder with you images in - try printing an image directly from the folder (right click) rather than the app you use.

It's interesting that you brought that up. I noticed it too. The funny thing is that it SHOULD be a 64bit app but for reasons unknown it elected to install 32bit during the install process. I will look in to that and report back.

Right click on the image then "print" and a completely different window pops up. It does have a few more options than the one above, which at least offers some improvement. Alas I can't seem to set the tabs but apart from that it's at least an improvement!

This just saved me a mess. Broke printing on multiple machines. I was deleting the entire domain profile and setting them back up from scratch.
