What is a good free replacement for uBlock Origin in Chrome?

there is also Vivaldi browser which has its own ad-blocker and is based on Chromium.
add uBlock lite as well and most bases should be covered.

Some time ago I did a test with Vivaldi for replacing my Firefox if needed.
It's a lot more user-friendly than Chrome, less intrusive and offers the same UI as I was used to with Firefox (oldfashioned menu etc.).
I was rather impressed by the capabilities of Vivaldi!

But at the end I decided Firefox had more advantages for me, so I keep onto Firefox unless that app would not be supported anymore by it's makers. Although in that case some other open source dev will certainly take over.

Brave I did test as well, but I did not like it. Rather intrusive too, letting pass payed advertisements, which I don't want.
Besides that, the Brave icon looks too much like that of my bank.

i use Firefox as my default browser and have Vivaldi as my backup browser.
both are good browsers and are a world away from either Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Brave's own Adblock extension/feature - is good - cause it's actively updated/maintained by the Brave devs. uBlock Lite is decent enough, as for the rest - i don't know - tried them all and couldn't find anything that rivals uBlock Origins (if efficient enough - they use more resources, or equal in terms of resource usage - but less efficient and limited features). Tho, Chrome is currently one of the worst browsers (popular only quality wise - while pushed by google on almost every smartphone). If you like it for whatever reasons - there's plenty of Chromium (the open source project) based alternatives - some quite decent (but most Superior to Chrome).

FYI.....uBlock Origin will continue to work fine on Chrome, at least for a few months more. All they currently do is disable the App which you can simply re-enable it again. Same with Edge.

Funny enough, the core dev (and CEO) behind Brave browser (Brendan Eich) - created the JavaScript programming language and co-founded the Mozilla project, the Mozilla Foundation, and the Mozilla Corporation.

Firefox is actually - a descendant of Netscape - which was bought and ruined by AOL - while Firefox remained as an Open Source project to carrying out its legacy.

There's uBlock Origin Lite, which I guess is better than nothing.

There's also AdGuard which I guess is also better than nothing.

Then there's also Brave which has it's own truncated blocker built right in, yet allows ads that paid the Brave tax to slip right on through. I guess that's also better than nothing.

PS: (I use Brave as a secondary browser- that's better than nothing)

Not a bright future, I'm afraid. Not if those one or two monstrous corporations have their way...

Why not?
That registry-edit has to do with google Chrome.
My experience with app-oriented registry edits is that they function in both Windows 10 and 11.
Unless of course there would be something else on that Windows 10 system that prohibits the use of registry tweaks in Chrome.
But you always could try...

I use Privacy Badger in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. It's especially good when used with the latter two browsers' built-in ad blockers. It's development is sponsored by the Electronic Freedom Foundation, very trustworthy, regularly maintained, and available in MV2 & MV3 versions. While mainly an anti-tracking extension, it happens to block quite a few ads.

I've also enabled this key in W11.The registry key refers to the browser, so there's no reason it wouldn't work in W10.
