I am using Outlook as my email service but cannot find what version I am using and I haves searched for this information but even the Microsoft site suggestions do not work. The version I have has just got the Home View and Help in the top bar and Microsoft is telling me to check Settings then General and in that it should say About Outlook but I am not getting that setting - see pic.
Any help really appreciated.

The confusion I'm seeing is in whether Outlook is the icon on the Taskbar [replaced Mail] or the Outlook program that is part of Microsoft Office in the Start, All apps list. For me I had Hotmail Webmail then it was supposed to merge to Outlook.com, became part of Live Essentials and it ended up going to https://outlook.live.com/. The Office Outlook is an installed E-Mail Client like Thunderbird or the discontinued IncrediMail.

I can find the version numbers for both the Mail replacement Outlook as well as the Outlook as part of Microsoft 365. Unsure about the standalone Outlook or Outlook as part of the Office Suite itself. Checking seems dependent on which version you're actually checking.

Thanks for all your replies I will try a few of the suggestions and just carry on using the version I have now as I seem to remember the New look just went over automatically at the time. It just struck me s odd that I do not have "File" as shown in the screen view shown on the search result showing Microsoft's information on Outlook.

Apparently it also does the heads in of those who do the support. I would not doubt that it would also do the heads in for anyone else working for Microsoft let alone the user base. I mean how do staff dicriminate between Outlook’s when discussing design features etc??? Can you imagine the meetings? Staff would be throwing shoes at each other! 😂🤣
Naming them all outlook isn’t smart, practical or a good business call in my opinion. Surely they could of been more creative, if even just adding a version number or year to the name?

Outlook Lite would have been appropriate for this. And the big brother MS Office Outlook 365, or something.

I didn't think that article was talking about MSOffice Outlook.
Which reinforces what we've all been saying in this thread, bandying the word Outlook around willy-nilly just causes misunderstandings.

I don't think Enterprise users bother with the free version of Outlook which comes with Windows. They want something that works with their Exchange servers.

I just got an update to Outlook (free) but it looks the same as the prior one. I will have to look deeper into it.

Same here...

This New Outlook is quite a nice upgrade from the old Mail App. Not even close to the real O365 version though, but it does not have to be that. I just don't like that the naming is a bit confusing.
