Solved Why is a clean install so hard?

ha… yes I was shocked when I discovered that. I may have to roll back to 2019, at least for my wife as she is notorious for never saving work as she goes. Me, I save after every word.

Microsoft Windows installation is a sport, at least I have always thought so. I kind of enjoy it and I love that Brink and everyone else is here to make the sport interesting. I don’t begrudge people wanting to do things their way, it's just that Microsoft is allowed to do whatever the hell they like and I can’t help but feel that complaining about it is a little privileged. They are obviously (by the actions being discussed here) looking out for the shareholders. ”Herd us like sheep into the pen” and hope for that extra $3 a month from users for extra storage.

Just use Rufus, select the iso, select the destination, after you tell it to start, all the options to do what you want to do will be available in a pop-up box before it creates your install.

Yeah, Like @MisterEd say’s, you have to be using save to cloud as the default before you can use save as you go features. I laughed and thought… “you crafty devils” Maybe someone will write a hack one day

I installed both Windows 11 Home and Pro last month and left the Internet connected the whole time. I was still able set each up with only a local account without using the command line bypass tricks normally used. The method I used was very simple. When asked to log into my Microsoft account I entered the following:
Username: username
Password: password

Windows setup responded with "Oops something went wrong". I was then asked to create a local account.

BTW, I used the regular Windows 11 Media Creation Tool to create the bootable USB flash drive.

from what I have seen it does matter what you put in the login as long as it errors your sorted. I personally put

Seems a little all over the place and messy. I am hesitant to have a go, life is too short. I do however use the pst backup add-on for Outlook.


It still works for outlook 2021. It seems to have updated recently but as I have never learnt how to compile GitHub stuff to an executable, I resort to the compiled official release file (v.1.10) listed from back in Jan 2022

MrEd,

Until recently, MS used the terms AutoSave & AutoRecover interchangeably.
But now
What is AutoSave? - MSSupport
AutoSave, AutoRecover and manual saving in Office 2019 and 2021 explained - GHacks
You can still use the Word, Options, Save, AutoRecover settings I posted about before.

? AutoSave & AutoRecover aren't even remotely similar. One saves your life if there's a crash, one spares you from having to click save.

Well, don't blame me.
Before Office 2019, MS often got the two mixed up. Hence my comment.

I don't use either facility. I just use Ctrl-S when I feel like it.
