WIndows 11 bug on Canon Printer G2020

Right most likely driver issue, had issue with my Epson xp-7100 once i upgraded to Windows 11. Talked to Epson no help month or so later new driver came out problem was fixed. Mine was receiving commication errors, but WiFi worked flawless only USB didn't at the time.

This Cannon Printer is not listed in USA site only Asian site for Cannon, last drivers were April 2022 not long ago.
Not sure where you are and then what Cannon support site should use for calling them. Your issue does seem odd only when updating as mine happened whenever or all the time, but occasionally would work sometimes.

@Winuser, the printer fully works with win11 as long i will not update or install anything. If the bug occurs. I just remove the printer name list in printer and scanner then restart, it will re add the printer name and works again.

Never try this in Win10 yet.

It is still covered in warranty but full RMA is not possible.

The reason I suspect that it's the printer is because you said the other USB printer works.

Upgraded my PC to windows 11 and cannot load any drivers, software etc and make the printer available. Using the full software. After all the pre-limninaries i then :- 1. connect the Printer 2. The system states it can detect the printer and begins process 3. Then it states it is installing it...

I never owned a Cannon printer so I can't comment on the quality of their products. If it is a driver problem and not a defective printer, Cannon should be ashamed of themselves. Windows 11 has been released long enough for them to release an updated driver that works in Win11.

@jds63, im from asia. Thats why cant find support forum canon. The forum i open today came from USA which given to me by glasskuter. Upon searching many of win11 user cannot install inkjet multifunction. I didnt post or comment on that forum. I just use searchbar and found that win11 has problem with canon. Yes the last driver is april if my memory is right and the next was oct 2021. Im using phone now cant verify exact release driver month. But all driver tested already.

@Winuser, you are right. Canon should fix this. Based on the forum ive search they ignore issues.

Actually not being arrogant. Im the one or few people found a temporary fix for this issues. The canon forum they complain it is not working because some on their software updated. Ive encountered their problem that it will not work without knowing that because they update or install something. For tedious fixing, computer knowledge and i found temporary fix. Hope this will be a guide to temporary fix canon in win11

I am now in canon service center and confirmed. All clients using win11 has problem but they fix reinstalling the printer which is time consuming as this will repeat the problem.

Time will tell probably the driver only way be fixed is from Cannon, don't think Windows 11 is main issue. If getting the driver software should be from Asian Cannon site not USA because they do not show your model on that site at all. Mine use to work if i reinstalled the printer but eventually would go back to not. Good Luck and keep this post updated on any solutions as helps others too.

Update!
I have found a better solution.
I just use the MS Store driver for canon. The printer name list should end with HTTP.
Not totally fixed but no more error even installing any software.
After installing any software it will create a copy printer name but you can delete the copy name in printer management.

Hmmm....never heard of doing that before would figure drivers there for MS hardware (surface,etc...). If works for now good, but would still keep an eye out on Canon site for update for firmware and drivers.

Canon inkjet printer utility in ms store will install inkjet multi function printer.

In my understanding. Canon driver and canon inkjet printer utility ms store are conflicting or not compatible. The only way inkjet multi function printer will not get error is not install driver from canon site.

Also after 2nd boot. Even installing or updating any software. No copy name printer created. Didnt update this yet to you guys because its to early to tell but i already install games 2 days ago and happily no copy printer created.

the G2020 printer is also listed in other Asian canon sites like India, Vietnam and Indonesia

So you say your using an app to run your Canon Printer in Windows 11 ? That what it seems to be from MS Store.

Never heard of a printer running without any kind of driver so far.

Wouldn't think printer would work if nothing is listed in Devices for it.

Not sure what else to suggest at this point.
I myself have a All in One Epson Printer and after the printing part was resolved by new driver i still have issues with the scanner part of printer not recognizing as a scanner giving errors. Have to restart PC for it to work sometimes. Driver for scanner part is still older i feel is why it's doing this like the printer did before a new driver came out.

Yes this is USB connection and maybe it is related to Windows 10 usb printer bug.
The only fix is to remove printer list then restart then it will automaticaly re-add the printer.
Why Microsoft only says the bug occurs only in WIndows 10?

try installing the newly released KB5016691 preview update from Aug. 25, which seems to include some fixes for usb printer related problems on Win11

Confirmed the bug is in Windows 11. Didn't update forum yet because im still observing for 3 weeks but after updating KB5016691 i never encounter my canon printer error.

Thank you @erpster4 for giving me the specific fix.
