Windows 11 Title Bar Inconsistencies

In title bars I noticed a number of inconsistencies. I use dark mode. The setting in Personalization > Colors have both "Show accent color on Start and taskbar" and "Show accent color on title bars and windows borders". Most apps show my selected color in title bars. When I open File Explorer, Settings, Microsoft Store, Notepad, Office, and probably other MS related apps, only the border of the window may show my selected color. A handful of third party apps show the same thing. I know that a few updates ago, MS swapped the positions of the tool bar and address bar and added tabs for File Explorer. I don't know if that messed anything up. Are there different types of title bars?

Natively, some title bars like file explorer, settings, notepad, etc will not follow your color scheme as they are hard coded in the OS. You might check to see if one of the third party apps like start11, startallback, or explorerpatcher will do what you want.Sorry I can't tell you specifically which one as I do not use anything to alter my GUI.

Thanks for your reply. I suspected that it might be something like that. File Explorer in Windows 10 did conform to the color setting. MS is messing around so much with Windows 11 you can't be sure what you might get from one month to the next.

Probably the best way to deal with Win 11, is to treat it as a video game.

It has tons of side quests, and many horrendous boss monsters to defeat.

Here's some stuff that may help on your Win 11 journey...

File Explorer uses mica for the titlebar. Open Control Panel and see if it uses your color. Then within Contol Panel, press the Up arrow to go back 2 directories. This will invoke the Windows 10 Ribbon FE. See if that uses your color.

Interesting. Yes it does. Windows 11 is still is work in progress. A mix between 10 and 11.

Download and install Mica For Everyone. Select default color in one list and none effect in the other list. This should make File Explorer, Microsoft Paint, Notepad and some other applications have the familiar blue (or whatever your accent color is) background on the menus. In my system if I choose an effect such as Acrylic or Mica I get blurred text on the menus, so I selected none to get readable text. Your results may vary.
