Hello, and A happy New Year to you all.

Okay, down to my problem... Some of you may know me from the Windows 10 forum, where I asked questions on setting up a NAS D-Link 320l; it has been running flawlessly since then, even upgrading OS to Win 11, no problem. The problem occurred when one of the 5TB HDDs started failing in the NAS, so I replaced it as it was set up as JBOD. I was not sure what files were on what drive and as I changed drives, have to wipe and reformat.

Now I see that NAS in the browser, no problem and it's all set up now as RAID 1. When I try to access the drive through Windows Explorer (Network), I get "Access is denied". When I try to Map Network Drive, I get again "Access is denied"

When I run the D Link setup wizard, it does not locate the device, which I assume is down to Windows.

As I said, this was all running for months without any issues, I am not sure why replacing an HDD in the NAS would cause all these problems.

I do hope someone can help; I have tried lots of online YouTube methods but no luck.

I have a Buffalo NAS running as RAID 1. Right-click of This PC gives the choice to Map the drive but what it really means is to Map a folder on the drive. After entering data on this panel

it then asks for the network credentials

Try admin Command Prompts to execute net use s: \\IP\movies command, replace the IP and movies folders with NAS share IP address and share folder.

Type Net view all to view list of share resources on your network.

1) you are selecting a sub directory and not trying to map the nas root, correct?

2) have you tried via IP and not name (\\ip.ip.ip.ip\subfolder)?

do you know the IP address to your NAS?

if not, are you familiar with command line? if not, you can use a free GUI tool to find all IP addresses on your LAN:

it will run portable, no installation necessary

With NAS you configured shared folders correct?

Have you tried connecting to those share folders?

Removed Acronis on all 3 systems, back to Macrium Home

Restarted XB8 Comcast Gateway twice this week

No Go lol here lol

((Windows 11 Main Desktop)) was even clean installed when added the new boot M.2 as Christmas lol))

is it on the same lan?

*did you make sure the subnet that it is scanning is correct (the ip range at the top - is it on the same 192.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x or whatever your nas' subnet is)

I ran the scan again, and it found the D-Link; I opened it up, and Volume_1 was present. When I double-clicked, all the new folders were present; also, the D-Link has a USB attached, and when opened, shows its contents...
Double-clicked Volume _1 opened up the Windows Explorer window Network 192.168.7.xxx, displaying both Volume-1 and USBDisk_1. Right click map drive, and it worked; I now have my two mapped drives present in This PC.

Now, I am not sure what happened, but that free software seems to have fixed the problem. again thanks

the dns name wasn't resolving for some reason. windows establishing a connection via IP resolved the name, thus your mapped drives are working via name now. glad it worked.

dacrone, all your work, I fear, has been in vain, as all was working last night, and I am back to square one... I have up to now used the same process four times to set up my NAS, and once it's all set up bang it's gone again... I am beginning to think someone is changing everything when I set it up... In my naivety, I posted the majority of my NAS ISP. I have tried to edit it this morning but there is no longer an edit button after the post... How do I get mods to remove the thread

what you posted is fine. thats an internal IP anyways. instead of mapping via NAME\FOLDER, map the drive IP\FOLDER and it will stay mapped. its he dns name having issues resolving.

when you want to tag someone, put @ before their name (like this @Trebo58 )
