Pretty confusing, typical MS.
I have copilot that showed up on one machine with Local account, but at some time over a year ago that same machine was logging in with MS account.
On all other machines that had a Local account from the beginning I had to switch to MS account to get Copilot and then I reverted back to Local account and Copilot remained available.
There must be some entry that they save remembering if that user ever was with a MS account.

If I add a new user with local account, that user does not get Copilot till I switch it to a MS account.

"I am not now, and have never been, a member of the MS Account Log-in Party." No, that's not right. I remember setting up a MS account a few years ago. Maybe that's what is stuck in their memory.

Both my machines (a compliant and a non-) are on 23H2 22631.2506, both are logged in on my Local Account, neither is in the Dev channel (or any Insider channel, for that matter), and both have all of the 23H2 features, including operating copies of Copilot that came with the package.

Maybe my machines' Moment features are just another of those famous MS mistakes (like letting non-Insiders get the full 23H2 package a few weeks ago if they did an in-place upgrade).

I have a Local account and have never signed into Windows with my MS account. Check your Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts. Having an MS account listed there that can be '...used by other apps' is sufficient for Copilot.

I think my point is that MS is sending mixed signals on this, and confusing users. I used Copilot (see my post #59) to ask the question about needing to be logged in with a MS account to use Copilot, and its answer was "... you need to sign in with a Microsoft account on your PC to access Copilot in Windows." But I hadn't signed in and wasn't signed in, and in Settings, MS offered to sign me in, which wouldn't be the case if I were signed in.

I'm downloading the ISO to a thumb drive and each time, with different drives it gets to about 75% completed then says the disk is full and can't complete. I've tried 2 different 32GB drives with the same result. Have done this before at least 10 times over the years and never this issue. Any ideas?

Use Diskpart and see how the 32GB drive is partitioned and formatted.

I found that I had a 128GB drive, so used that, and it downloaded. Not sure why the 32GB drive didn't. It was formatted as FAT32.

That's your reason, Fat32 has a 4GB maximum file size - and the ISO is 6GB. Reformat as exFAT or ntfs.

Yep, the other 128GB USB drive I had was already in NTFS. Got the ISO, replaced the appraiserres file and have 23H2 on my old laptop.

I did a clean install of 23H2 from the new ISO from USB created with Rufus. Why hasn't Cortana and Mail and Calendar been removed from the new clean install image?

Yep, I still had Cortana as well (not the others). When looking at "installed apps" in Settings there was the option to uninstall, so I did.

Mail and Calendar are still actual and used a lot but Cortana is officially dead and I kicked her out long time ago.
