Solved 24H2 Question after installation

Yesterday I clean installed 24H2 with Rufus. First I installed the 26100-1150 ISO from Microsoft, and then through windows update, the system updated to version 26100-1457. Checked windows update this morning and no more updates were available. So my question: is this a normal sequence of events right now after this clean install or for 24H2. I see a lot of information on newer updates that state "it's a gradual rollout". So I'm assuming I just wait for them to appear in windows update. I do have "Get updates as soon as they're available" on as well in windows update.
Just trying to make sure I don't accidently miss a step or method to push any updates to the system that are needed.
Appreciate your thoughts

As far as I have seen the 24H2 version is still in the Insider Preview program, BETA/Testing. Checking my Win11 still shows no further Upgrade from the RTM 23H2. There has been some speculation 24H2 will be out in next couple three months.

You're correct. I decided to install 24H2 as I've heard it's being released with new PC's now, and that a lot of folks have installed it and most are not having much problem. So going back to my question: just trying to make sure I don't accidently miss a step or method to push any updates to the system that are needed after the clean install.

I'd say most of us cannot answer your question, as we haven't installed 24H2 since it's not fully released yet.

And I think the only PC's that it's coming on already are the CoPilot+ PC's.

I'd normally suggest asking in the Windows Insider forum/s but would caution that the Insider program is for testing, there usually will be issues when using it. It was warned when I was in the Win10 IP not to use it on a production machine or only machine available due to changes.

I'm running Windows Canary builds on my two desktops and I'm not having any problems. When 24H2 gets released to the public I'll be upgrading the rest of my computers, including my wife's laptop.

I don't know if 26100-1457 is the last build, I am still running 23H2 and waiting for the public release of 24H2. What you have done is normal. If there is any new build of 24H2 you should see a new update in Windows Update. After installing the new update, check the version again. It should have increased. Also different Insider's versions (Canary, Dev) have different build numbers and features, you probably have Canary, not sure. Dev has higher build number than 26100, if I am correct.

Having just bought (Jul) a new laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon) I can definitely say it did not (and still does not) have 24H2. In fact when I bought the laptop, I expected it would have 24H2, but it did not because as many have noted, currently only Co-Pilot+ PCs are getting it, which my laptop is not.

So yeah, at the moment unless you're buying a Co-Pilot+ PC, you are not getting 24H2.

Whys such rush to get 24H2? General release is only a couple of months away. Patience is virtue (pity I have only very little of it...)

I don't think 24H2 is more secure than 23H2 with the same configuration and all updates installed. Probably it supports some new features, but until you need them there will be the standard release of 24H2 or even 25H2. Why rush to install it? I would avoid using a Preview version as my everyday OS, unless I dual boot with a standard version. So I would either clone my 23H2 on a spare disk, upgrade to 24H2 and dual boot with the original SSD, or I would first install it on a virtual machine to familiarize with the new features and any changes to the GUI.

26100.1457 is the newest build that 24H2 will update to right now if that PC is not enrolled in any insider channel. That's the same upgrade track as the Copilot+ PCs and any other OEM PC that sold with 24H2 on it already.

There is also 26100.1586, which is a "Release Preview" build. You would only get that from Windows Update if you are enrolled in the Release Preview insider channel, but you could do an in-place upgrade if you obtained an ISO for it. You could make an argument that since 24H2 is technically still in "Release Preview", then you might as well run the latest "Release Preview" build, but I don't think that there is anything wrong with keeping 26100.1457 either.

Well it's turning into a pretty big deal for some that have newer AMD CPUs. The bottom line being that 24H2 does a better job with these CPUs than 23H2.
