If you go into System Information (aka sysinfo) in Windows does it show the "Secure Boot State" as On?

It's an old Nvidia based GT630 marketed by EVGA. I really don't know how old it is - but likely quite old.

No - it says Unsupported - of course.

Hope you figure something out. I don't have any other things you could try with this.
Finally those GT 630 GPU's were released in 2012 according to the Techpowerup GPU database.

No, my config settings here are for my system - this one is wife's machine that has a Intel I5 12600 KF CPU and an old GT630 video card.

Windows 11 requires DirectX 12 and WDDM 2.0. The Nvidia GT630 has DirectX 12 and WDDM 2.3. Looks good to me. If you go to the Nvidia driver site they have a Windows 11 driver for the GT630.

This shows DirectX 11. Where did you see the 12 support? Maybe old info on Nvidia site. GeForce GT 630 (OEM) | Specifications | GeForce

Just use Rufus and install Windows 11 and choose the TPM and secure boot bypass.
Now hardware needed

I'm a little confused as to what cards are giving "Birk" trouble.

I believe that the Windows 11 specs don't require a card that has native hardware support for DX12. With suitable drivers, the DX12 features can be supported in emulation.

Nvidia has driver 476.06 WHQL for Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11. The GT 630 is in the supported hardware.

The screenshot the OP posted in #19 in this thread of Dxdiag lists Nvidia drivers that are from 2017......

You're right. The driver is v388.13 from 2017.10.30. The OP needs to at least update their GPU driver to a much more current one.

At least there are updates for the GT 630. The newest driver for my GTX 560 is v391.35 from 2018.3.27.

When available update the progress with post #14.

Amazon just told me the GT730 would not ship until mid July (maybe.) So I cancelled that one and ordered a Gigabyte GT710 - it should arrive this Friday. It supports DirectX 12 so it will hopefully work OK. I"ll post Friday's results when I get them.

I hope that works for you. But the 710 is a "Kepler" card, which means that it's on legacy support, like the GT630 ("Fermi").

I don't know what cards are incompatible with UEFI motherboards.

I would have suggested a GTX 745, 750, or 750 ti. They are "Maxwell" cards. supposedly still supported by the latest drivers. More expensive than a GT710, though. (But with much higher performance, if that matters to you.) All of the other 700 series cards seems to be Keplers.

The saga continues....

Today, as if by magic, I found a Gigabyte GT1030 on my doorstep. I have no idea how it got there, but I'm pretty sure it came from Amazon. No, I never ordered a GT130 from anyone, and Amazon shows my GT710 is still on order. Regrettably the GT1030 didn't allow Win11 to install either.

Regardless of all this I decided to check for people who installed Wi11 even though their systems didn't meet the Secure Boot requirement. It turns out there are a fair number of people who have done that. In fact, there's a tutorial here that has a registry patch that supposedly eliminates the check for Secure boot. So I installed that and tried the MS Health Check again. It failed - so I'd say the tutorial registry fix doesn't work.

Undeterred, I went online and found an Easus page that said it would create a Win11 Boot SD card that had a lot of options, several of which disable the check for Secure Boot. So I checked those and it did create a bootable 32GB SD card in about 40 minutes. So I booted from that and after some preliminary stuff it said I had to reboot my PC from it's hard drive and then run the Setup program from the SD card.

So I did that and after checking some things the Setup routine said my system didn't meet the Secure Boot requirement. So both the Easus method and the registery tweak from here don't work.

I put a GT750ti ($78.99) on my Amazon PC upgrade list, and I may just cancel the GT10 before it ships. In the meantime I'm going to look at the Rufus method for upgrading to Win11 while ignoring the Secure Boot issue. Apparently a number of people have done that successfully.

Thanks zbook - that's the exact registry tweak I tried - and it did not work. My guess is MS changed something since the tweak was issued that invalidates it. I'm currently running the Rufus install onto the SD card.

Oh my! It's actually installing.

The install finished and Win11 came up OK - Ver. 23H2 Build 22631-286.1.

When I started the actual Win11 install I specified to skip updates for now - because I've always done the. But that means there were a bunch of updates Win11 found after rebooting. They took a while but said they all completed OK. So it looks like I managed to do what I wanted - and I somehow got a free video card in the process.

We do live in interesting times.

Run the computer for a few days.

If there are any major problems then post a V2 share link into the newest post.
