Solved Any way to reinstall DirectX?

Well, if it's a DirectX issue, it's not being shown by the diagnostic tool. To be honest, I'm thinking the issue is more the game than anything else; especially since the error codes points to the game(s) .exe file.

That said, I noticed you didn't address my questions about the games themselves, so....

And BTW, I'm also a gamer as I have game collections on both Steam and Origin (EA), as well as other non-game platform games, and thus far no issues. Currently playing Cyberpunk 2077, but also playing Dishonored (DX 9 game).

When I try to play "really" old games or run really old apps... I always search for how to run that app on Windows xx.
As for the DirectX 9.0c... there are download links for it, but if Dx9 won't install, Microsoft chat is probably the easiest way.


I have some old apps that I had running on Windows 10. I wasn't sure they would run on Windows 11 so I cheated.
Instead of doing a clean install of Windows 11, I performed an In-Place upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and chose: "Keep all programs and files".

Now, my Win 11 is exactly like my Windows 10... programs wise.

I cannot talk about games specifically because they don't fit into some category. They crash randomly but mostly when they require DirectX 9.
That's the reason why I think it must be DirectX.

In the same time, people running Windows 11 run the game without any problems. There are friends I have been talking about this problem who run the games without error.

That sounds Intresting actually. Will think about it.
The problem is everything works fine when I run the games on Windows 7. That's the reason why I think it cannot be hardware related.

By the way, could it be audio driver failure? I am thinking about that actually since it's not video card failure for sure.

He may actually be right from try standpoint of hardware being faulty but only if I had the same problem on other OS too I guess which I don't have.
That's something Kodi support has told me too.

If your drive was dying, you'd have all sorts of issues and you'd know it. Here you simply have issues with two apps. I hardly see where that indicates a dying drive; especially when you also provided the error codes.

This is like someone posting their monitor doesn't come on and me replying it's a dying drive. How about we first look at the monitor, cable, GPU, BIOS settings, before we automatically assume the drive :wink:

That's a good idea. I also think Reliability History would help as well - View Reliability History in Windows 10. You can also type "reliability history" in Search to bring it up. Still works that way in Windows 11.

That is actually something that Kodi support has told me as well. They thought it must be my video card. Seems like Hardware solution is the ultimate solution when you don't really know what's happening.

I will have to for sure but I guess I will keep the old one as well. I may go back to it from time to time.
