Are you happy with Windows 11

WinME with a windows folder of 128MB, thats right, 128 Megabyte and everything worked.
Intel Celeron 333MHz. single core.
1GB of DDR ram (double the system max). there was a way to split the memory allocation table from 1x8 bit to 2x4 bit
thereby increasing the ability to have above the maximum RAM. 1024 MB the system could use 999MB, 1MB used for ram mapping and 23MB reserved for system hardware. a 30GB 7200RPM 3.5" IDE HDD (never fill that up, smile)
outpost firewall and AVG free. the little beast flew and everything worked without any BSOD. after that i moved to Linux.
memories are made of these, best of luck, Steve ..

Yep memories (y) By the time ME and 2k were out I think I was running an Iwill DVD266-RN with two tualatin P3s at 1.33ghz and Voodoo3dfx gpu.

IMAGE018.webp

No software could really take advantage of multithreading and the chipset had trouble coordinating 2 cpus so I ended up running just one, but it was still superfast until 2009 when I had to jiggle the ram to get it to boot then decided it's time to upgrade to something else.

It's a lot easier having multicore than having mutli-cpus lol

at the time of XP and NT there were limited recovery tools for NTFS. FAT32 had many recovery tools. Win9x couldn’t see/read/write to NTFS.

I always used FAT32 until win7. Never really had to recover much, but it was easy to boot into dos from a floppy then copy and paste any files. I had heard of linux but all the software was for windows so I just stayed with that.

Mistake Edition was the first Windows OS I shelled out for and ran in my home on my very expensive Sony VAIO system with a Trinitron CRT monitor that was as heavy as Stalin's coffin. I was familiar with using Win 98 because my boss let me use his PC a lot. Prior to this I used a Tandy in my home. I'm not sure if I ever had an OS blue screen on me as much as ME did. This was my introduction to Windows from a hands on "you're the user, you fix it" perspective. Perhaps this is why Win XP and Windows 7 impressed me so much. IMO just about anything beats ME (with the possible exception of the quickly forgotten Win 8).

Is it just me, or is 24H2 FASTER than 23H2? Holy cow, Windows seems zippy quick after that 24H2 update and a couple of Windows Update patches.
I've been using 24H2 for about a month, and I didn't notice any changes. But I just got the January patch a few days ago, and it's definitely faster now. I’m not sure what changed, but it feels really smooth. Even if it’s just some kind of graphic trick, I’m all for it! Wow, I can't believe that updating to a newer OS actually makes the machine feel faster, whether it's true or not.

Thanks! Mine was set to 300. I was wondering why it was slow lol. I set it to 30 so it doesn't pop out a menu just from moving the mouse over the submenu.

I have tried to modify it as little as possible and I definitely do think it is faster and cleaner than 23H2. Also the size of SxS is behaving much better, finally!!!

I wouldn't say I'm happy with Windows 11, but currently it's the only option for me. I mean, it's not bad either, but there are things I liked on Windows 10 better than on Windows 11. For example, I think centered taskbar by default is stupid and I don't like it. First thing I do when I install Windows 11, always make it left aligned. I also don't like Windows 11 start. I think it's ugly and I think Windows 10 had a better looking start. I also don't like that start is cut from taskbar when you click. Just looks stupid in my opinion. I also loved glass effect of Windows 7. In Windows 11 transparency effects are not as clean looking as it was in Windows 7. In short, from the design view, I'm not impressed with Windows 11, however I hate using old stuff and I still use and prefer Windows 11 over other Windows versions, simply because it's newer, which means it's more oriented on a new hardware and takes full advantage of them, for example SSD handling and I'm not saying anything about Direct X and games... Basically, I like Windows 11 or not, I'm stuck with it. Linux is a big no, since I play video games (especially online ones), plus few things weren't working on Linux unlike Windows.
