Solved Can someone help me identify what Event 9007 nhi is?

one of them to my External USB HDD and SDD, Both the 8TB SDD and 5 TB HDD are not powered and get the power from PC.
But nhi messages also appear when non of these devices are connected.
If that is the case, Windows is reporting some sort of transition of power to the ports even when the ports are not being used so this definitely points inward to Windows OR hardware.

Transitions of power are normal occurances as part of power-saving. Of course, when things are working correctly, the user should never be aware of these transitions and functions should all be normal when they occur which is not your case.. It would definitely be worth contacting Lenovo support and explaining your situation approaching it from this fact that it happens even when no devices are connected as well as when devices are connected, thereby disconnecting those working devices.

From my experience dealing with OEM support, I see a couple of roadblocks you may well run into. These are my own observations and here's how I predict it's going ot go....and that is in circles. Maybe,. by some miracle your experience will be different.

You will get no help from OEM tier 1 support which is usually chat, and getting to tier 2 or 3 is like pulling teeth. In dealing with tier 1, you may well have to demand your issue be escalated (maybe more than once)until you can get to someone with real knowledge as this is not a regular run-of-the mill problem.. Once you do, they will require you to be running the latest bios set to default and have you reset /or reinstall Windows on the device removing everything. They will want to work with a 100% virgin Windows installation.

The OEM may well balk big time if they know you are using adapters and non-powered devices so it might behoove you to concentrate on the keyboard since it has its own constant power, at least. I wish you luck. Sorry I wasn't able to help solve it.

I will try it as with my laptop I am able to downgrade bios with no problem. I am on 46WW as you know and they never released a 47WW. They went directly to 48 and from the release notes they only added security patches. I did not update because I was told that they blocked undervolting for the CPU. But i will try it tonight just to be sure.

I am going to try a clean install of windows just to be sure ! sometimes a driver or a setting can mess up things and I need to make sure this is not the case before doing anything else.

I have also dealt with support agents and it can turn into nightmare if you are not lucky and if you get stuck with an a$$ H.. But usually thing are easier with the Premium Care support. They send you a technician to you place and usually after a little friendly chat at home the job is done IF and ONLY IF the guy knows his job. I've seen technicians on site not able to repack a laptop they opened up! 😂

Reporting back:
I tried the latest bios and the problem was not fixed. So I decided to go with clean windows install. On the new windows I can see 2 nhi messages at boot and then I can see a message every few hours. But the messages are no longer populated as before. Still not sure if there is a hardware problem or if all this is normal after all... because I have no problem using any of the USB devices on my PC!

I was able to finally identify and fix this problem. Although I guess this is a specific problem with my setup, but still, not a bad idea to share the fix for reference. Who knows, maybe another person will find this useful.

The problem was from my Yamaha Piano connected via midi USB cable to my PC. Windows detected the Piano (plug & Play) and worked for few years. But suddenly I was having these regular disconnections/connections. To solve the problem I had to download latest Yamaha midi driver from manufacturer's website and install it.
