Computer related services/company’s are all just crap now. The free ones seem to be fine.
And we let this happen. Once, boycotting had an effect. Now they just don’t care. Sub prices absorb the users that leave.

As @pseymour suggested, that link could be for businesses only because it seems that's the only email addresses that that link accepts. I guess there could be a link for regular customers that I didn't see.

Not the same. Norton Ghost 2003 didn't do all that hippy stuff, and it was FREE.

Just did backups and restores, had bootable rescue media, and protected it's own backups.

All these geek favorite companies have the same fate eventually: they get enshitified. The past 20+ years have plenty of examples. Macrium is not there yet, but there are early signs that's where it's headed.

There is always something that comes along to replace them.
The moral of the story is; Nothing and no one is irreplaceable.

Whenever I go to Canada, my two brother-in-laws, without fail at least one night of my trip, will call “Mailboxes”
That can only mean one thing and it makes me raotflmfao.
Off we go, 30 min of swinging a baseball bat which isn’t easy when hanging out the window of their, what I can only describe as “Monster trucks”
One of them is a 4 times decorated RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) which makes it even funnier.

I do credit Hasleo a lot. Maybe I should be dissing them to slow down the inevitable.

I save every old version of a software now. Just in case.

I read it. I will say that I don't like the idea of Macrium going to a subscription but the 4 license pack at $50.00 a year comes out to only $12.50. Probably around the same price as a pack of cigarettes.

That’s a cheap pack of smokes. In Australia, they raise the price 3 times a year (via tax) because they think it’s the best deterrent for smokers.
Most smokers are now paying over $150 a week for their habit. Some, well over $200. Illegal under the counter smokes have become all the rage. (Think Hasleo vs Macrium)

Regardless, I get your point. For some software It’s affordable, I just don’t agree with the model.

I used Ghost when it first came out. I don't remember what it was but when Norton or was it Symantec bought it out they did something to it I didn't like.

I hang garlic around mine. We have a vampire problem in Australia. They don’t know how to use a PC. So any deterrent is a good deterrent.

Back in the seventies I was a heavy smoker. I was up to two packs or more a day. The reason I gave it up was because they raised the price to 60 cents a pack and I thought that was way to expensive. As a bonus, two months later I met the girl that was to become the future Mrs. Winuser. She's a non smoker.

I got so busy with Reflect X and this thread I never did get to starting that Macrium how-to. That's what got me into wanting to upgrade. It seems that the older I get , they easier I get sidetracked.

Not sure I know what you mean by "hippy stuff". Pretty much all it does is backups, but that's okay.

Other than the recovery disk, the one thing I hate is the file and folder backup function. The recommend not using it for more than 10,000 files.

With Reflect I create a disk image backup but I also use File and Folder backup to backup a library of files that has way over 10,000 files.

Incremental, differential, emails, etc.

Most of us just need backup, restore and bootable media.
