If you have problems with Dish or any other hardware equipment, the ISP should send out a tech and fix it as part of their contract. Make them connect their laptop to the Wifi before they leave.

I need to see if I can find the details, but there is apparently a known problem with the December patch Tuesday updates causing WiFi for some WiFi adapters. If memory serves, I think it was some Qualcomm and MediaTek adapters. I wonder if that is what you are encountering. You could test this by uninstalling the December update and see if all is then well.

If I can find the details I will post back here again.

Follow-up: Regarding the suitability of WiFi adapters in a desktop computer, I would make an argument that a WiFi adapter in a desktop computer can actually work better than in a laptop because you have the advantage of external antennas that can be optimally positioned. I have several PCs here that are using WiFi because they are in remote corners of the house where I don't have Ethernet. These are absolutely rock stable. I literally have never ever seen even a single brief interruption and with WiFi 6e I'm actually getting near gigabit Ethernet speeds, and on occasion even slightly better than gigabit Ethernet speed.

My personal preference is for the Intel WiFi adapters because I've just had always consistently good results with these.

I am not referring to Dish (TV) [as opposed to Direct TV]. The WiFi router is attached to the tree using a "Dish"m and that's the Dish I'm referring to. (Sorry for not having clarified this sooner.)

One more thing. It's not so easy as just trying out the connection to one computer.
There is the house and there is the art studio
1) House
a) 4 computers, 2 phones, 1 solar network (controlled through WiFi), 1 TV
b) 2 routers: the ISP-Router and the attached NetGear router
c) A netgear switch to attach to one or the other router then determine which machines will be hardwired to one of its connections.
2) Art Studio
a) 1 laptop; 1 TV
b) ISP-SmallerRouter and Linksys router.
c) two cellphones
3) All of these items has to be attached based on which thruput is the highest. Speed tests vary constantly.

What does it mean when the network my Living Room computer is WiFi-attached to says:

..."no internet"...
Why is it that I actually do have Internet from that connection??? What is it that the connection doesn't have?

I assume that the "Password" is the router password. I have no idea what the Username is because Routers don't have associated Usernames.

All the internal traffic within your house can use whatever it wants, Your computers will use your internal network to the ISP router which NAT out to the internet and provide the secure comms over the internet. I have configured Diane's UpstairsComputer desktop to connect through a direct (Ethernet) connection issued through the Netgear router (not, or more specifically "indirectly" through the ISP-Router ( 4-port Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc. DW1525 (802.11n)).
TO WIT:

(note: Ethernet is selected)

At the same time as the UpstairsComputer is hardwired (Ethernet connected)
I'm able to connect it with WiFi network (note: WiFi is selected)
I managed to configure that computer in BOTH (one at a time!):

or the WiFi network associated with the ISP router (ISP - Diane)

How is this possible?
1) How is it possible to connect a computer to an Ethernet network (Netgear37) AND to a WiFi network ISP - Diane or NetGear37 AT THE SAME TIME?

When you say password/login, are you referring to the "Username" shown in thread item #30?
If so, where do I find this "login" or "Username"?

True if you have an adjustable external antenna. Computers with built-in wifi not always the case. There are wires just like a laptop wired inside the case.

I was not aware of that. Is that a limitation imposed by those countries that they do not allow WiFi to use the 5GHz band?

I am all WiFi 6e here so I use 2.4GHz, 5Ghz, and 6Ghz bands. I'm now just waiting for the final certification of WiFi 7 so I can move to it

Looking under Ethernet Settings for the 3 Ethernet connected computers I see:
a) Network4 (I expected it to say NETGEAR37) - No internet access.
b) NETGEAR37 - No Internet
c) NETGEAR37 - No Internet
What is the Network4 all about? Did it just name itself? and Is there something I should do about it?

It is OK to have have more then one router but only one should actually be acting like a router. I assume your main router is ISP-Router. Any other routers you have should have their routing functions disabled. Doing this makes them act like an ordinary switch. Set it up this way the ISP-Router assigns IP addresses to all the devices on your network.

The Gateway (modem/router) from my ISP has 4 Ethernet ports. I needed to connect 5 computers so I added a 5-port switch. I can now have up to 7 computers connected with Ethernet. Both the router and switch loses 1 port because of the Ethernet cable connecting them.

Thanks for the advice but I've noticed that having the NetGear router "in the loop" as a router in its own right, does seem to affect the performance of the network--I don't know why, though I suspect it is a better router than the ISP's--and so does its 'job' better than the Qualcom.

Your answer is interesting and leads to interesting questions like:
a) Can you theoretically have an infinite number of computers attached to an ISP signal and count on the Ethernet Switch to control the queue when multiple computers are asking for a handshake or can just the presence of a large number of computers overwhelm the connection?
b) If you have two Ethernet Switches in line and one can transfer at higher transfer rates than the other (e.g., GS308 vs FS308) does this in any way affect the performance (and how) of the network?

But right now I'm in the throes of trying to understand:
1) Where did the network designation "Network4" came from (the other two are both named NETGEAR37) and how does it affect operations?
2) Does the network specific description "no internet access" mean anything?

What advantage is there to assigning IP addresses to each machine, vs the alternative?

Desktops/ethernet? Laptops/WiFi??
