Check out the The Intel Driver & Support Assistant. It may give you updated Lan and WiFi drivers.

When you use that assistant, would you normally uninstall it afterwards or leave it on your system?

I uninstalled it. I install it ocassionaly to check for new drivers, then uninstall it.

I am now seeing a Windows Update called 2023-2 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 (KB5022913)

Is it advised to install this?

That's entirely up to you. This is an optional Preview update containing the non-security updates that will be included in next Patch Tuesday's CU. This update is the first to introduce the new 'Moment 2' features to Windows 11.

If you just wait until Tuesday 14th you'll be getting it anyway. I have installed it on my 2-in-1 convertible so that it can benefit from the new Tablet Optimised Taskbar. For my other machines I'll wait until Patch Tuesday.

Edit: some of the new features get installed through the Store, such as the Snipping Tool's new ability to record a video screenshot.

I had a quick look at the link and see the not so popular topic 'AI' mentioned a fair few times throughout. In my industry, it has caused a stir.

Is this something we should be worried about that this is being forced upon us in this update?

You already have Bing results in the taskbar search box. All this update does is add the Bing AI results. And at the moment only those signed up for the Bing AI preview will see that.

@Bree I am in the process of installing some more programs, tweaking Windows still because I reverted to an earlier backup.

Is it best for me to just install this optional update now or wait till Tuesday the 14th? Does it matter?

No, it does not matter. Unless you really want any of the new features I'd wait.

I've only installed it on one of my three supported machines, and only because that one is a 2-in-1 convertible. I have been waiting for ages for the Tablet Optimised Tasksbar to make it out of the Insider Beta builds and into the RTM release.

No it isn't a case of me wanting the new features, it is just I want to crack on with getting a new initial base backup done and then to continue with installing all of my programs.

But if I wait till this is released, it is over a week away. What would happen of I just installed this update now, then did my backup/tweaks etc. in Windows, then did a backup and after that continue installing my programs?

Then lets say we get to Tuesday the 14th. Does it just install this update again over everything I have already done?

Updates are Cumulative, each one contains all the patches from the previous ones, plus some new ones. Only the patches you haven't already got will be downloaded. If you install this one then those parts you install today won't need to be downloaded and installed on Tuesday.

Ok, so no real harm installing this update now and then the automatic part installing other parts on Tuesday the 14th.

Hi again, I hope you are all well and good.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day from Ireland!

I was doing Windows Updates and now I see 'Attention needed' under Windows Update at the top right in Settings.

When I go into the updates part and click 'Download and install all', it just keeps erroring and the retry button is all that is showing. It seems to be stuck.

The update error is:
Intel - Net - 1.1.3.28
install error 0x80070103

I see this thread in relation to it, but this is from last month, shouldn't this type of stuff be ironed out and fixed automatically by now?

Something got broke on the new updates that MS came out with. Mine are old drivers that have been replaced with new ones, now they want me to update with old ones ..... not happening here ! So we wait for MS to fix their mistake ! What strikes me as funny is their trying to force three...

I found out if I paused the updates, then resumed them it would fix it. That worked.

Hi,

I installed Intel Driver & Support Assistant and was about to uninstall it after getting some driver updates.

I noticed another program called Intel Computing Improvement Program which I think may have got installed with the Assistant. Is it recommended to uninstall this too?
