Solved Drives, partition, folders query?
If I may suggest, I would get an inexpensive laptop to play around with and leave the main laptop alone.
It'll be even better to create a VM image and then mess around with that.

No but you just said it depends...so I assume you have an example where it is not worthwhile or at least an example where a VM would not work vs real hardware...

...anyways...for experimenting with Windows, a VM is perfectly fine (even Hyper-V which may sometimes be limited to an extent). You can break the OS and recover within a few second.

It is more expensive than a VM and also takes up extra space on your desk. A VM is perfect for experimentation. Just delete the whole thing when you're done playing.

You're right, I'm wrong. It is better for
@Alexey2912 to keep messing up his main computer.
How does a VM mess up your computer?
That is the whole point of a VM, to not mess up your main computer or to run multiple instances of various things at the same time in one single device when there is enough resources to share.
I sometimes run 6 VMs at the same time on my laptop and the host OS has never broken because of that.

How does a VM mess up your computer?
That is the whole point of a VM, to not mess up your main computer or to run multiple instances of various things at the same time in one single device when there is enough resources to share.
I sometimes run 6 VMs at the same time on my laptop and the host OS has never broken because of that.
Look up some of Alexey2912s post and tell me I'm wrong. Either way I'm done posting my opinions to you about the subject and won't responed to any comments from you on this subject.

What am I looking for in particular? I find hundreds of posts from that user? And all of them seem to be a bit all over the place...

Alexey2912 is trying to learn his way around computers. He has made many mistakes and has had to start over. I feel that he would be better off using another computer to learn on and not risk losing his important programs and data files that are on his main computer. Yes, backups are fine but what if for some reason his images won't restore? And if he does use a VM for testing that doesn't mean that he can't make a mistake and have to start all over again.

And if he does use a VM for testing that doesn't mean that he can't make a mistake and have to start all over again.
That's what checkpoints are for. Takes literally 2s to restore to previous state. And you can't screw them up because they're differential changes to the VM storage, unless you go fiddle with the physical VM files on your host.
I use VMs all the time when I'm a bit uncertain what will happen if I do an unknown modification or tweak to a system or install some less known app.
I also always use VMs while developing and testing apps or whole systems of apps, to ensure a clean OS state.
