I've just started making use of Windows 11.
I have been using EaseUSTodo Backup for quite a few years, but of late there have been one or two things that irk me. Nothing major, just annoying.
I have also been using a free version of Macrium Reflect 8, mainly for its rescue facilities like repairing BCD, cloning etc.
On switching to Windows 11 I decided to give Reflect X a try and am currently using a trial period.
I'm sure both products have their advocates, so I'd welcome any info you guys might have.

Not much to say - both are good reliable products. In the end, use one as your primary backup tool but use the other as an alternative backup now and then.

It is preference but I would use VX as your primary backup tool as it is definitely faster and more flexible

Of course, you would have to pay for it once trial finishes, so decision is more a cost issue and only you can judge that. Of course the free version will continue to work for foreseeable future.

LOL. You've touched on one of the most contentious subjects since we all like what we like and since our images are so important in our computing life, we trust what we trust. Some here use ToDo. A relative newcomer in FREE backup software that is getting a lot of attention is Haslo Backup Suite. Personally I don't use it as my go-to solution...yet..but I have created several backups with it and really like the simplicity of its interface. It worked pretty fast, too, both with backup and restore., Then there are various others that some users here use. Search the forum for "backup" and "imaging" software and you will find a lot of advice.

I believe I am safe in saying that right now the big daddy here is still Macrium and has been for a long time. Many bought 8.1 licenses and it is still receiving updates. Longtime users are not happy that Macrium has now gone subscription and there's been a lot of folks say they won't use a subscription and will seek out one of the other free ones when their 8.1 no longer works. Others have already bought a subscription to Macrium X..

Despite the free version of Macrium 8.0 no longer being offered (but can still be had if one knows where to look) nor getting updated, it also still works and quite a few still use it. However, it is not known just how long it will continue to work. Eventually after 8.1 is out of support it, too, will meet the same fate.. Just when 8.0 or 8.1 will cease to work will depend on what changes Microsoft makes to the OS. They may well work for quite a while yet. Nobody really knows.

Due to the solid fanbase Macrium has, I'll bet some of the naysayers who are grumbling may pay a subscription to stick with Macrium once they try some of the others,. If I'm still around when my 8.1 goes kaput, I probably will unless its totally out of my price range. In that case,, I'll move to Haselo full-time. And your point of Macrium being able to fix boot issues when others can't is a big selling point that has saved my bacon a number of times.

A major consideration for me is the availability of incremental and/or differential backups.
Another is support.

In any case I have until 21st. January 2025 to make up my mind.
