We now know the trade in offers that will be available to those with older V8, v7, and v6 one-time licences, and for recently purchased perpetual v8 licences.

If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024, you have three options;
  • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.
  • Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year of support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.
  • NEW: Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life (must turn on auto-renew and not allow the license to expire/lapse).
Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. Step-by-step instructions to obtain either option from the grace period will be published this week.

For Reflect Home users who purchased V8 before July 1, 2024:
You are eligible for two options. The first option is 50% off Annual plans for life. Option 2 is our “Better than Black Friday 2024 Offer:” 3 years for the price of 2:

If you choose 50% off annual plans for life, you will have to trade in your current Reflect Home V8 license.

If you choose 3 years for the price of 2, you can keep your Reflect Home V8 license. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)

For Home V6 & V7: We are offering 3 years for the price of two. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)This offer ends March 31st 2025.

Up to and including v8.0 the 30 day Trial reverted to Reflect Free. Starting with v8.1 it reverts to a RESTORE ONLY version. The same applies to letting your v8/v10 subscription lapse. This was documented in post #1 of the Latest Macrium Reflect 8 updates thread. It also includes a link to get Reflect Free v8.0 direct from Macrium.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Well I finally took the plunge and traded in my 4 pack of Macrium 8.1 for the 50% off for life subscription deal at 49.99 USD and bought 1 extra Macrium X subscription that is currently a Black Friday deal at $29.99 USD.

Hopefully I timed it just right so that when I renew every year there is a Black Friday deal for my One extra licence.

It cost me $121.18 in Canadian Dollars converted to $83.90 US Dollars to purchase by PayPal and was much cheaper than what Macrium wanted at the cart in Canadian Dollars if I wanted to pay by Credit card.

I was also considering the other deal but that would have cost me almost $300 Canadian for 3 years ($30 cheaper if using PayPal conversion) but I did not need 4 keys of each version and it would be confusing to keep track of which backups were made with either version as I am currently Imaging 5 Windows Installations plus an Insider Build which is still imaged with Macrium 8.0 Free.

Works fine on my 23H2 , tested several times backup and restored , 100%........... ;-)

"Is it worth it?" It is a good question. I have just upgraded to X from V 8.1 and can't see any real improvement for my routine of backing up (either full or incremental). Reflect claims a definite improvement in terms of speed, but as far as I can tell so far, backing up took 12 minutes with X instead of 13 minutes with V 8.1 for my volume of 350 GB. Quite frankly I don't care, the performance is fast anyway, I'm happy with this program, and I knew that I had to make a decision and opted for 50% off the yearly subscription for life by relinquishing my V8.1 license. If you are new to Reflect, this program has never failed with me in more than a 100 restores through the years, it just works.

Hi lyldz, the Reflect GUI is a bit daunting at first, it really looks complex. But in reality to perform basic operations (e.g. backing up Windows, creating rescue media, and restore) is not difficult at all. There are a few clicks involved but it is by and large fairly intuitive. I would suggest the obvious at first, try to read their help file about what you want to do, and go from there. One thing that you ought to do as soon as possible is to create a 'Windows Boot Menu'. From the main GUI choose 'Other tasks'/Create Rescue Media/select 'Windows Boot Menu'. Let Reflect create it. This boot menu will allow you to start a restore within Windows almost automatically, or choose to restore windows when booting your computer. It is also recommended to create rescue media on a USB flash drive for extreme situations ( it is exactly the same procedure but you select USB flash drive instead of boot menu). I'm sure you will enjoy having Reflect like many of us!

There are some tutorials in the tenforums site - a little out of date perhaps but still shoes the key principles.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I decided to trade an unused v7 licence for the 3 year plan at the BF price for X for my main desktop PC and keep my less important laptops on v8 for now.

Cool, they have fixed the minor downloads folder bug I reported to them via Macrium Support.
