Hi

If I have 2 --1040 tax forms in the same folder downloaded if I change one form and save it will it affect the other 1040 in the folder?

You posted another thread about this very issue just 3 days ago and you were answered. Yet here we are again. If you do not understand file/folder basics it would be of great benefit to you to watch or read one of the many tutorials available on the web.
Look at it this way. If you have a filing cabinet with paper folders in it and you have multiple paper files in each folder and you pull out one of the files and make a change to it, does it change any of the other files you never removed from the cabinet. Of course not.
A computer works the same way. A computer is just like that file cabinet full of folders and files.

I have the forms stored on my NAS for several years but for decades the situation has been that a folder cannot hold 2 or more files of the exact same name, at least one character has to different. Same for subfolders.

As for the forms themselves, only one is the f1040, rest of forms have 1 or 2 small letters designating what they are.

If you have 2 files of the same name i'm betting one is a shortcut to the other.

I added a shortcut for the last file/form in my list. Note the small arrow on the icon for it. Sometimes the word shortcut can be deleted.

change the name of each 1040 tax form to ..
1040 2024
1040 2025
that way each form/file has a different name.

I keep recommending Windows 11 for Dummies to TTT but he hasn't taken the hint yet nor to use a meaningful title. I think he just enjoys teasing us with trivial questions.

With any important files and folders, one should always make backups of them to another drive. If something was to happen to them it's much easier to do a restore from a backup then it is to start over. Sometimes starting over isn't even an option. We have had way too many users lose important files that we couldn't help them to successfully recover.
