I remember waiting 20-30 minutes to download a single MP3 file (3MB size). Meanwhile we held our breath not to drop it and start over! I didn't like "modern" browsers displaying progress in KB or MB because it seemed a lot slower than it was. I preferred browsers displaying progress in fast increasing bytes. After download an MP3 file would not fit on 1.44MB floppy disks (aka diskettes) so we used WinZIP to split it in two or more diskettes! Then I bought my parallel Iomega ZIP-100 drive which had 100MB disks (really 96MB) and could fit several MP3 files and other data. Instead of returning home with 20-30 diskettes of data I had 4-5 ZIP disks. Progress

When the TOS was made there were floppy disks. This "cheese" (plastic storage medium) suggests something superior with much higher capacity to the contemporary floppy disk (magnetic only 1.44MB), like an Iomega ZIP-100 disk (magneto-optical, 100MB) or newer.

Imagine a plastic the size of a pack of cigarettes or larger that connected directly to the PCB of the game console, like additional memory, and contained the game code. Because it could not be modified, it was known as ROM (read only memory).

Okay, what is TOS an acronym for? floppy disks which I believe were invented by Sony went up to 2.88MB I believe. SyQuest who bought IOMEGA was 200MB I believe. And the NEC TurboGrafx-16 in the US or PC Engine in Japan and outside US used CD-ROMs which were 640MB in size.
