Funny Picture Thread


You can run Windows 1.0, 2.0, 286, 3.0 and 3.1 in DosBox. You can even configure DosBox to install Windows 95, but the 512MB virtual disk is too small and limited to play any games. You can play 16-bit games for Windows 3.0/3.1 though.

This reminds me of programming in Borland C++ Builder) I don't remember the exact name) which was like Microsoft's Visual C++. We could create easily the whole GUI by drag and drop the items from a list and all we had to do is add the code to interact with them. We felt like cheating, as we did minimum effort. It was far easier than programming everything manually like in DOS.

I laugh when people say I have never done programming, I do all my calculations using a spreadsheet.

I started with GW-BASIC which came with my MS-DOS 3.3 (8088 640KB, VGA, 5.25" and 3.5" floppy drives, 40MB HDD system, aka XT clone). I didn't like that VGA mode was not possible in GW-BASIC (unless you mess with assembly code). Later I could switch to VGA mode in QBASIC but I could not figure out how to change the default palette colors using RGB values, the help file wasn't helping and there were not good forums back then like Elevenforum to ask. Even if there were some BBS, internet connection was not common until late '90s. We are grateful for this and other sister forums, like Tenforums. Keep up the good work, I try too.
