Install to old pc without uefi and tpm. Is this possible?

I hadn't tested it for upgrade to Windows 11, but I supposed the Windows 10 setup would complain of incompatible version. At best case it will think you do an in-place upgrade-repair of the same Windows 10 version but upgrade to 11 without compatibility check instead. I bet it cannot be used to upgrade from one version of Windows 11 to another (such as from 21H2 to 22H2) as it is Windows 10 Setup. For my upgrades I download latest Windows 11 ISO and then bypass compatibility check (see relevant thread). Never had any issue, apart from when upgrading to 22H2. If you are connected to the internet, even if you have bypassed compatibility, it will fail at some point before the first restart. I guess it does a secret online compatibility check. The workaround is to disconnect (flight mode, disconnect the LAN cable) before running Setup and connect again only after a successful upgrade to 22H2.

I've already tried & failed [bypassing compatibility checks with a dummy appraiser file] and it was not connected to the internet during those attempts or this one.

I've always assumed that this non-compliant computer would never make it to Windows 11 but it's easy to have one final attempt. It's just sitting on a shelf out of my way while it's trying.

Updated later - Final attempt also failed at the Safe_OS reboot.

Disable all startup applications and any third party antivirus. Disconnect from the internet before upgrading. Mount the Windows 11 ISO and start Setup with right-click Run as Administrator. Wait for the progress to reach 100%. Now create a new text file and rename it to appraiserres.dll (make sure you delete the .txt extension as well) Go to the hidden folder C:\$Windows.~.BT\sources and delete the original appraiserres.dll file and then copy-paste the dummy one. Back to Setup click on "Change how...." text to reveal a choice and select not to use Windows Update during the upgrade. Proceed as normal, close all other applications and avoid using the computer until it is complete. After you are back to the desktop, you can reconnect to the internet and enable your startup applications and third party antivirus.

That error is due to something else not related to Windows 11 compatibility checks.

Yes.
Probably a driver, as I understand things, but examining the logs did not identify the culprit. I don't understand how anybody can identify a specific driver amongst the entries in those huge logs but I tried anyway.
I saw other people going to huge efforts to solve Windows 10 Version 1803 updates that failed at that SafeOS reboot stage and they had excellent guidance & coaching along the way in TenForums. They never did fix the failure.
Having made multiple attempts, I'm now giving up.

Getting a tablet, albeit one with an integrated keyboard, in 2018 was an experiment.
- It was useful as a travel computer before the plague stopped all travel for so long.
- I thought I'd develop other uses for it but they are so few & so seldom that I won't replace it when it eventually dies or Windows 10 support ends.

In that case manually update all your drivers or even reinstall latest version before upgrading again. Don't rely on Windows Update, download the latest official drivers from manufacturer. I would also go to Device Manager and disable any non-critical devices such as LAN, WiFi, audio, TV tuner, extra storage controller, Bluetooth etc. Of course also disconnect all peripherals. This is to prevent Setup trying to update drivers for these devices and peripherals and proceed with the upgrade.

While it can be done I personally would not recommend it. I feel it is better to wait until your device is compatible.

You can wait, we want to use Windows 11 now, we don't like to wait.

I do not believe that this computer's update failure can be resolved.

I queried post #119 that incorrectly said that cereberus's post #118 about a hybrid Win10-11 install USB could not be used for an In-place upgrade procedure.
I said that I was in the middle of doing just that in order to explain my interest.
