Install to old pc without uefi and tpm. Is this possible?


We are not talking about using a Windows 7 key to install Windows 10/11. This yes, it can be done. Any Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 8/8.1 Home key can activate Windows 10/11 Home, provided it has not reached the maximum number of allowed activations. Also any Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8/8.1 Pro key can activate Windows 10/11 Pro. If am correct Windows 7 Ultimate keys can install and activate Windows 10 Pro, but I tried using one in Windows 11 Pro and would not work. For Windows 11 Pro use a Windows 7 Professional key instead.
But I think the OP is trying to upgrade Windows 7 directly to Windows 11. No, that cannot be done. I confirm it. He can use the Windows 7 key to clean install Windows 11 only. Not upgrade from Windows 7.

Can you mod/custom the win11 iso file and buypass all the security's for old pc's at a gui?
This is a paid program not free so it's useless.

I simply want to create an win11iso file without security's so i can make a clear install of win11 to an old pc without tpm.

Yes though you can't mod anything. That's what nlite is for which I haven't touched

You can only create a USB flash drive without modifications. But you can either manually patch Registry at Setup screen or run a script to do it before a clean installation. For upgrade you don't need any modification, disconnect from the internet, run Setup and replace the hidden file C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\appraiserres.dll with an empty dummy. Then proceed as it were Windows 10, no compatibility check. To create the dummy file right-click on the desktop and create a new text file. You must have enabled to show file extensions so you can properly rename this empty text file to appraiserres.dll (without the .txt at the end). Copy the file, go to the hidden folder, delete the original file first and then paste the dummy file. You may now proceed with the upgrade.

I was talking about using WinToUSB to create the USB flash drive which doesn't support patching like Rufus. With Rufus you must recreate the USB with every new Windows 11 version. If you have the script all you need to do is replace the old install.wim file with the new from latest Windows 11 ISO. This allows you to have some drivers, utilities and other data in the USB flash drive. Using Rufus would require to backup all these extra, create the USB with the new version and then restore the extra files. It looks like more trouble to me than simply replacing the install.wim file and using the same hacks.

I have use nlite at win7 and it was awesome program.
Does it support win10 and 11?

If you edit the win11 iso file and simply delete this file from sources folder i believe.

And why don't download the latest win11iso from ms site and do any modifications to this latest version of win11 iso file?

In my previous post on that WiNtoUSB works like Rufus "By adding the bypass of tpm" that's it. I posted that bc WIN7 on Rufus does not support the bypass option but only on WiN10/11. WIN11 doesn't need much of any modification other than that

Who said about using an old ISO? You may download the latest official Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft's site and use WinToUSB to create the USB flash drive. In that case you have to manually do the appropriate hacks (for clean installation or upgrade). If you create it with Rufus the USB is already patched, but (yes, there is a catch) you cannot modify the USB flash drive when a new Windows 11 version is released, you must create it again with Rufus losing all its contents. If you create the USB flash drive without the patches, such as with Media Creation Tool or WinToUSB, you can replace the old Setup files with the new from latest ISO leaving the rest files unaffected. You will manually do the appropriate hacks for the next upgrade or clean installation. Probably sll you need is to replace the install.wim file with the new version in the sources folder, but I replace all Windows 11 setup files just in case.

For those who ask, deleting the appraiserres.dll file from the USB won't work. You have to replace it with an empty dummy to bypass compatibility check. This should be OK for upgrade to the new build, but I am not sure if it works for a clean installation. Also make sure you stay disconnected from the internet while upgrading an unsupported computer, or it will fail. Been there done that.

I can disable the recovery partition from nlite program?
With this program you can remove the tpm and security boot, but I don't know if you can remove the creation of recovery partition when win11 installs

If you mean to avoid creating the small system partition in MBR partition style (Legacy BIOS mode), Windows Setup doesn't give you the option. Even if the disk is unallocated (no partitions defined yet) and you create a new NTFS partition, Setup will also add the small system partition without asking. The only way to avoid this is if you create a new NTFS partition before starting Setup and select to install Windows 11 there without any modification. One way to do that is to press SHIFT+F10 to open a command prompt and use the Diskpart tool.

The disadvantage of Rufus is that you cannot just copy new files from the ISO when the next version of Windows 11 is released, you must create the USB flash drive again losing all data.
